A master degree graduate arrested for smuggling and growing 250 marijuana plants.

PATTAYA – September 5, 2013 [PDN]; Pattaya police officers raided a place and arrested Mr. Nataphol Phathanapratipluk, 29 years old after being informed of smuggling and growing of marijuana in a commercial building at 35/40 Moo 1, Baan Suan Muang. The police checked the rooftop, 250 marijuana trees have been found.

After investigating Mr. Nataphol, it was found that he is a knowledgeable person with a Masters degree. However, he confessed that he liked taking drugs therefore he tried to plant it by himself, he has been growing illegal marijuana for the past three years in Thailand but they are lots of chemical pesticides on these plants. Therefore, he imported seeds from the United States which costs about 3,000 baht for 10 seeds, and takes about four-month for growing.

After the police surveyed the place where marijuana was grown they believed that it was organic. There is ventilation system, as well as roof to filter out lights to enter these plants. The police stated that this is one of the biggest illegal marijuana plantations in Chonburi area.

After investigation, the police have charged him for illegal plantation of marijuana. Since marijuana is a drug therefore he will receive type 5 penalty accordingly.

A serious criminal has been apprehended. cheesy.gif

He liked taking drugs? Can the reporting be more banal and childish, please?

This man should be applauded for trying to grow organic weed. Even the police was impressed, if I get that right from this "article"

Silly man forgot to make a deal with the neighborhood BIB.

He should be commended--NOT arrested--for growing organic herb. The commercial Cambodian chemical weed available nowadays is so saturated with poisonous crap it causes cancer, among other harmful effects...

Another non-criminal gets arrested while al the big ones carry on unmolested.

If you don't like the laws of the land, try to change them not break them. That's if it's your country.

He knew he was a criminal regardless of what you might think.

BTW, that "chap" on the right is the senior Cholburi Police General and he spent half his working life undercover chasing illegal drugs so he would not be sampling.

Only un-educated people get mixed up in "illegal" drugs? I don't understand the need for stating that information.

What an injustice it is that weed is still illegal. My heart goe's out to this guy who's life has been ruined. Just because its the law and the Guy knew the risks, it's still a stupid law that deserves to be criticised.

Sounds like you know all about him...

Prove it, bucko.

I was hoping he'd deny knowing anything about them and claim "It's a plant". xsorry.gif.pagespeed.ic.HIAcli9fRM.png

Cannabis is an illegal drug in Thailand. It is also a potentially dangerous one. You will hear the misinformed hedonists waxing lyrical about the fact that it never hurt anyone, but they never treated psychotic or schizophrenic patients whose misery was triggered by cannabis addiction. And, smoking it is linked to carcinoma of the lungs, cvd and a number of life threatening illnesses. Misplaced sympathy for someone trafficking in drugs is mistaken, foolish and ignorant.

Yes, I know quite a bit about him and have met him more than once. Indirectly I report to him.

Not sure how I can prove that - or even if I need to.

Thai medicine is full of cannabis... Heroin,...

So what are they talking about?

This white thai sirup in green bottles for 40 bahts. There is cocain in it...

Ridiculous ! This guy should become governor and people who do not understand that weed is the less dangerous substance compared to alcohol should be shot !

But the very same cannabis is also used for pain relief, glaucoma and apparently oil from it can cure cancer

I don't really feel sorry for the guy. A couple plants is more than enough for your personal consumption. He should have kept a low profile but got greedy.

Poor guy....sittin up on his rooftop....avin a larf

Crossing the street is also increasingly dangerous. So why is it not banned for the well being of humanity?!

Why not let others smoke themselves to death (and have fun on the way) if this is their choice? There is no such thing as cannabis addiction, moralist! Just a desire to take it again as one has already enjoyed it. There is no physical addiction like with, say, alcohol or heroin where you get sick if you don't get your dose.

I agree that it can cause carcinoma if used as intensively as tobacco. Bob Marley comes to my mind (300 gr a day!)

Also agree though with schizophrenia in brain developing teens or young adults who should refrain until they are already sufficiently intelligent ...

Poor attitude.

He was doing the country a favour providing chemical free weed....a healthier choice.

.

1)The link between mental illness and cannabis is pure coincidence. There is not a shred of evidence that cannabis alone triggers these illnesses.

2) The link between carcinoma of the lungs and cannabis is purely down to some users smoking it with Tobacco. Once again not a shred of evidence that proves it triggers CVD and other life threatening illnesses. You can bet your bottom dollar that most cases will be down to poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle.

3) An addiction/obsession to anything, anything you can imagine, might result in negative effects on your physical and mental well being. The benefits of Cannabis far outweigh the negatives. It should not be illegal just because you think a few people might abuse it.

It is true that the mentally ill should not smoke Marijuana, but they should not drink alcohol either. Get the point!
