Do the BIB receive too much in pay and bribes?

Everyone knows how fines are paid here with it being settled on the spot for half the real fine and the money gets passed up the chain.

Recently a very high cop who was part of our extended family died. He had been 2ic in the second largest city in the province before transferring elsewere. I have on met him a couple of times when he was at family funerals paying respect. He allways spoke politely with me and even initiated a wai when becausee of his status he would be higher than me except for age.

I understand people in the family got one and only one get out free card. Second he may stand bail but the cases went through. I am aware of a member of the extended family who was on the increasing scale of yabba addiction and drug dealing. Other police ended up letting him off for 100000baht but as a last warning and 2 months later he was caught and is now doing 6 years. This system does not seem that unfair to me.

Our street was probably the safest place in Thailand during the funeral. I have never seen so many high ranking cops in one place for 6 days before.

He was 55 years old. In his carrear I think he a reasonably good hard working cop who progressed to near the top.

When he died his estate was 10 million baht and this included probably a million of inherited family land. Not that much for a lifetime of work.

Not everyone is like a certain policeman in Dubai it seems.

Lovely story.

Zzzzzzzz.

And the point is ?
