Same room for different prices?

Featured Replies

Agoda advertises different prices for what is fully described as the same room. Same size, view / no view, breakfast, safe, bathrobe hairdryer and etc.

Is there an explanation for this? Is the cheaper room the same as the more expensive one?

Anyone know?

You've been around long enough to know where the travel questions go.

Sometimes Agoda will have a certain number of rooms (of a certain type) with some kind of discount. You may see, for example, "Superior" room listed with a "Insider Deal" or some other type of discount and then "Superior" rooms listed without that discount. That may be the difference in the rooms that you are looking at.

I have seen instances of the some rooms listed for one occupant and others of the same type listed for two occupants with a different price. Also, sometimes certain rooms have different prices depending on the view or location; Such as "Ocean View", "Garden View", or "Poolside", etc.

I have found that it is not always obvious what the room difference is. I only noticed the number of occupants difference by looking in the "Max" column.

Sometimes it's a matter of what meals are "free" with the room, most often whether you get breakfast or not.

Makes sense to me. Like some airlines promote a certain number of seats as at a lower, promotional rate. Sometimes, on Agoda, you see room rates with the tag "Last one" or "Only 3 left at this price" which you can also see on some airline booking sites.

Sometimes a room for two only offers the "free" breakfast for one. Not Agoda's fault. They are just listing what the hotel is offering.
