I own a CZ SP-01 Tactical here in the USA. Excellent pistol with very managable recoil. It is a very good choice and I would highly recommend it (stay away from the .22). What is the cost of a CZ SP-01 in Thailand (I am just curious, in the USA it costs about $600 USD)?

Hi Rsokolwski, The CZ SP - 01 Shadow cost about 110,000 baht - 120,000 baht here in Thailand. Do not know price for Tactical model.

Hey look people, the OP dun want info bout a gun for himself. He's asking for a "friend" like so many helpful posters in this fine forum. so many fine friends posting for "friends" LOL

.22 is for close range personal protection. Smaller, lighter, less recoil, but questionable at range. If he can get a .22 cheap, might be a good starting option.

Otherwise, the 9mm is a better handgun overall and better for training in the long run.

I have both and like the .22 for how it feels in the hand, but the 9mm for the confidence in knowing what I hit isn't getting back up.

But rather than passing on random advice, he is obviously close enough to the range to go when he has a gun. Visit the range, talk to the Instructors, try both guns, price ammunition and make an educated decision. It's not that hard.

OP can I respectfully ask you if you are a American?

If you are, you have to remember you are in a international forum full of people who are from countries where they do not have the right to own a firearm, and they are indoctrinated to believe guns are only owned by criminals. That is because they lost the right to own weapons and now only the police and criminals have guns, leaving the law abiding population at the mercy of criminals.

May people on this forum have never touched any type of gun outside military service.

Or their only experience is going to a firing range as a tourist to have the one time and highly unusual experience of firing a gun.

Anyway, I can't speak to Thailand firearm costs. And buy a Glock. :)

Let us know what you find out...
