I just learned of a new restaurant off 121 outer ring road near Somwang Village past homemart.

I saw the sign new york style cheese cake and expresso and had to try it.. If you love Cheesecake like I do this is the best I have ever had in

Chiangmai it is out of this world. Also the Chiang mai style food is very homemade and authentic.

Its called RIMTHUNG and it promotes free tea to any bikers that use 121 for biking. Give it a try

Motorcyclists or bicyclists? Is it easy to find ie they have a sign in English and if not could you give a little more info like side of road and how far from Homemart. I live in the area and am always looking for somewhere to eat w/o having to go all the way into the city so thanks for the tip!

I still have no idea where this place is, other than on Highway 121 (Ringroad 3 as it is sometimes called), which goes completely around the city.

For that matter, as a point of reference, where is Somwang Village? Chiang Mai's getting to be a rather large place, and some of us don't recognize all the housing developments that are constantly springing up in all directions.

I was at Rim Thung restaurant today and had to try the cheesecake with a cup of coffee. It was indeed very good; 125 baht for the combination.

The restaurant just opened earlier this week on Tuesday, and the management is very friendly and willing to please the customer. A bit of English is spoken, but the menu is mostly in Thai. Menu items are generally priced at 60 to 80 baht (some less); Thai food at Thai prices. They do offer western breakfasts also, but not if you prefer to eat at breakfast time. Hours are from 11 AM until 11 PM.

As earlier indicated, it's on the west or southwest side of Highway 121 between kilometer markers 18 and 19.

Since it's a new place, it doesn't show on the street view, but the location is here: http://goo.gl/maps/WkvQA

Bravo, now that's what a local place is suppose to be like. Very welcoming and extremely friendly. Everything was good and I especially recommend the catfish dish. Not anywhere near Home Mall and the black bike on a short pole 20 mt off the road is hard to see but using the map link it's easy enough to find. And to finish the meal and this post the cheese cake was great! Looking forward to next time (and my take home of more dishes to try)

When I went there they were serving some excellent Northern Thai dishes. It is a small Mom and Pop style place but with service and clean etc. so best of both worlds. Doubt they have a website etc. But hard to tell from a website if its any good, just go down and order a few things. Actually I find the small places with websites are more into the social media aspect then the food quality.
