The only person to blame for the death of Jason Arday is Jason Arday. His lies were so massive, he knew once exposed he would become a laughing stock. He claimed he was affiliated, as a visiting professor, to three Universities who all said they'd never hired him. He claimed he raised 3 million for charity. Then he said it was through a consortium. Mind you he couldn't reveal their names, as his other 100 charity pals had all signed an NDA. 100 people. The lies just kept coming. Sure, Cambridge dropped its academic standards for Arday, and they need to investigate. It looks like Hilary Cremin had some kind of thing for him or was terminally gullible, or both. In essence however, Cambridge were deceived by a bad actor, a liar and fraudster. Yes, there will always be fraudsters and you can never be safe against someone hellbent on deception, but this was a systemic failure, with Cambridge, Twickenham, Durham, Liverpool, the Met Police, the BBC, ITV, James O'Brien and the Royal Society all failing to spot that they were dealing with a fraudster.
