You don't need to have all the items on this lenthy list , it is just an agency's take on what they think you should show. Doesn't change the fact that ChrisP is right to infer how ridiculous it is that we have to provide so much documentation.

What however in my opinion is far more serious and something that is not touched on often in this forum , is that however genuine your case is and however much proof you submit, in the end the issue or not of a visa depends entirely on one man/womans take on it . If they feel prejudiced towards you (eg homophobic) or are simply in a bad mood they can and do refuse you . You then have the farce of complaining to the ECM who already has a standard letter typed up saying they have reviewed the refusal and think its fair . BS!! They stick up for their ECO's in all but the most absurd refusals.

I would suggest strongly that anyone who feels their visas have been unjustly refused gets straight on to the ECM at the BE Bangkok and then when they get the stock letter saying its upheld , go straight to UKVisas at

www.ukvisas.gov.uk

where there is a complaints page . Mention the BE Bangkok and state why you feel unjustly treated. At the same time find out when your local MP (assuming the UK sponcer lives in the UK) has his/her next open surgery (usualy twice a month) . You should then go there and put your complaint to them detailing all the things you are unhappy about ranging from why you feel the visa was wrongly refused to complaining about the appalling rudeness of the BE staff etc etc. I have found this approach to produce good results and also it should be done because if you don't complain then the MP's have no way of knowing the injustices that are done by these ECO's . Don't be vague, mention names . In my experience UK Visas get back to you quite quickly by e-mail but you need to push them with follow ups to ensure they don't fob you off with the standard reply which they will the first time . Keep complaining . It does produce results.

i guess the british embassy guys just like to be doubly/triply/quadruply sure that thais have a good reason to return to thailand cos uk does have a large population of illegals. a LARGE one and they do pose quite a threat really. moreover, there always this tendency for thai gals to go overseas on social/tourist passes to become hookers. so i guess they are just being practical. i mean, sorry to be a bitch, but i guess they have to do SOMETHING, no?

of course there are genuine thai guys/girls who are not hookers and do genuinely want to go to uk for sightseeing, etc etc. and the visa people are absolute pillocks. but hey, since when is life fair? uk: though i love uk as a city, there are quite few things not to love, like the weather and the fact that everything is SO expensive. SOOOO EXPENSIVE. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXXXXXPPPPEEENNNSIIIVEEE!! ive made my point. i return home almost a pauper after my london trips. thank god for free lodging. thus before going, all thai guys must be warned that a macdonald's meal for 2 can cost more than 500 baht and a ride on the tube can cost more than 100 baht per trip.*shudder*

when i applied to a student's visa to study in usa, it was rejected once though i had all my papers. thats money down the drain. had to cough up more moolah and shit for the 2nd attempt with MORE papers from the university AND a letter from the dean himself before it was successful. then i got held up at houston airport , i think...and nearly missed my flight.

so i guess its better to give more paperwork than required to cover ALL bases, better to be safe than sorry than go for 2nd/third/4th attempts and spending more money for naught!

i travel quite frequently, largely quite unmolested and 9.9 times out of 10 ill be held up for extra questioning cos they are suspicious of me.but heck its just a minor glitch in the travel plans and has nevah spoilt my hoildays.

The UK isn't a city, it's 3 countries and a principality. Visiting London and saying you've been to the UK is the same as going to Pattaya and saying you've visited Thailand.

How can you travel 'largely unmolested' if you get stopped '9.9 times iout of every 10 for extra questioning'?

I was actually genuinely curious as to the answers to my remarks. The only thing we have to go on when evaluating people on here is what they say. You seemed to imply that you considered visiting London to equate to visiting the UK. I was wondering whether that was true. I was also genuinely confused by your remarks about unmolested travel. Perhaps you could either make your posts a little clearer or stop jumping people when they try and clarify them?

i shall ignore, you. im real tempted, but i wont feed you.

TROLL ALERT!!!!

If you're unable to handle my posts without exploding into a rage I suggest you put me on your 'IGNORE' list. BTW I'm not willing to answer your PMs to me as I don't take kindly to being sworn at and threatened. Any business I have with you will be conducted here, in public.
