Collins Ugwoeluchukwu, 26, told police he was driving his motorbike on a street near Phuket Fantasea in Kamala, when a black pickup truck overtook him and came to a stop, blocking his way.

PHUKET: -- A Nigerian man has told police he had his rented motorbike stolen yesterday (September 19) around 5pm when two foreign men overtook him in a pickup truck, slammed on the brakes, jumped out of the truck and thumped him, then took the bike.

Details of what happened next are sketchy, but Mr Ugwoeluchukwu told police that two foreigners then got out of the truck and starting hitting him, before taking his bike. He was left covered in dust and with minor bruising to his face.

At the scene, police questioned a witness who had seen what happened – and who confirmed that Mr Ugwoeluchukwu’s story was true and that two men had indeed thumped the Nigerian before taking the bike.

Mr Ugwoeluchukwu told police he usually comes to Phuket for about two or three months a year, spending the rest of his time in Bangkok running his own business.

Police suspected there might have been a “conflict of interest” between the three men and that they all knew each other, but Mr Ugwoeluchukwu denied knowing his two attackers.

Pol Col Somneuk Dumkaew of Kamala Police told The Phuket News that the two men suspected of stealing the bike were believed to be Caucasian.

Mr Ugwoeluchukwu was due to go to the Kamala police station today at 10am, but did not turn up for the appointment.

Nigerian tourist attacked and robbed of his rented motorbike
Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: A Nigerian tourist was attacked and robbed at about 6pm yesterday by two men of Caucasian appearance.

Mr Ugwoeluchukwu was taken to the police station for further questioning and provided with first aid.

He told police that while he was riding his motorbike, a pick-up truck cut in front of him, and two men got out and attacked him. Then they took his motorbike, said Chamnan Yousuk of the Kamala Police.

Witnesses at the scene confirmed Mr Ugwoeluchukwu's account, said Somnurk Damkaew of the Kamala Police.

“Police questioned witnesses, who said that they saw a black four-door Toyota Vigo pick-up truck cut in front of the victim and two white-skinned foreigners get out of the vehicle to attack Mr Ugwoeluchukwu. They also took away his bike,” he said.

Mr Ugwoeluchukwu, who is renting a condo in Cherng Talay, told police that he did not know the men and said, “I do not have problems with anybody.”

“We swiftly radioed police across the island to stop any black pick-up trucks, as we are now urgently searching for the two suspects,” Lt Col Somnurk added.

We swiftly radioed police across the island to stop any black pick-up trucks

or only stop those with Caucasians and or a motorbike in the back would narrow down the amount to search

spending the rest of his time in Bangkok running his own business?

Long over due for a clean out of these undesirables and the individuals that assist there business endeavors in Bangkok.
A new broom sweeps clean even from Dubai.

Sales in Bangkok must be pretty brisk to afford a 3 month holiday in Phuket in a condo for a 26 year old lad.

That's pretty much how it works.

Yes, that does look rather dangerous. Maybe the cop should give his belt to Collins to hold his jeans up. :)

TV Is so predictable. I knew there would be a flood of racist comments.

Couldn't happened to a nicer guy...

my thoughts: he had promised to supply somebody with narcs, got money and cheated them. so they took his bike

Why is everyone thinking this guy is a criminal? The guy is the victim here dont forget thst

i expect it was a similar deal to the nigerian in pattaya who thought that renting a bike didnt involve paying 'rent' for it, just riding it into the ground and then dissapearing. of course he didnt do anything wrong, hes a fine upstanding gentleman. well, hes standing up now until he scams another bike off someone.

Racists on the Thai Visa page? Who would have thought it.

I wonder if the perps took this poor man's helmet also...

No, probably drugs, they all seem to sell drugs. Living in the Sukumvit area, it's common for my friends and I to be 'hot on' by African males wanting to sell illicit substances.

He deserved a good hiding for wearing those jeans

Maybe this guy is the innocent victim but giving the high incidences of theft

and fraudulent crimes involving Nigerians in Thailand you can't blame folk for jumping to conclusions.

Thailand is the one place where a lot of different nationalities really do live up to their national stereotypes.

I

IT looks like revenge if believe to him. not the simplest way to steal a bike

i would say pharmaceuticals were involved...

Yes, he is the victim, but I don't believe he is an innocent victim.

These things don't happen to the innocent.

Jesus.

A Nigerian gets attacked and robbed by two white foreigners and every negative post on here is directed at Thais or Nigerians...

Why am I not surprised...?
