April 24, 200620 yr Dear all, I've heard that a new Visa regulation is on the way. This new regulation means that we have to stay one night outside Thailand to renew a Visa. Does somebody of you can confirm this? Best wishes, sanuk18
April 24, 200620 yr always amazed when TV first joiners, first posters come up with scenarios that not one long-term Thailand stayer has ever heard of... don't imagine you will, but would you care to elaborate on how, where you heard of this?
April 24, 200620 yr about the same odds that he heard about it from the brother of a friend of a friend who is "well connnected" and started the conversation off with... "You may not believe this, but it's true. I just heard that..." Edited April 24, 200620 yr by sriracha john
April 24, 200620 yr Author Ok, ok... I understand you - there are no new regulations... What are the chances he heard it from a guy in a bar

Now I know why I prefer my other forum. Bye. johnbutt
April 25, 200620 yr At least your moniker fits you.... even tho' it does disparage the good name of "John" If anyone, new or old, learns anything from all of this... it is VERY beneficial before posting any "rumour", if some background on the who, what, where, how, etc. are included in the post.
April 25, 200620 yr OK one possible source I haven't had to do via run in a while now. But, three years ago in you went to Vientien, you would have to drop off your passport in the morning and pick it up the following afternoon. I don't think there were any regulations involved., justhow they do business at that office. It is a very small office and processed hundreds of people every day. Since they had your passport you had very little choice but to spend the night. I've never done one anywhere else, but judging from the reaction here, there most have been places you would not have to spend the night. Never bothered me as it was a change of pace and I enjoyed myself. Now if this is still how it is done I have no idea, probably like most things involving immigration here it probably depends on where you do business, clear as mud huh!
April 26, 200620 yr A lot of things changed in Laos since last year accord. It's easy to go to the border and back the same day,I mean the visa run;if you want a tourist visa or a NON-O(this one difficult to obtain in Vientiane),then yes.you have to pass the night there.

I have reflected on my previous post and I feel deeply ashamed that I did not respond in a positive way to 34_bkk. I thank you for sparing some of your precious time to come and teach us ignorant fools at ThaiVisa a valuable lesson in forum board etiquette. I would ask that you continue visiting this site and enlightening us with your wisdom. Could you also let us know the name of this other, magical forum, where people are free to ask the members to confirm or deny half baked rumours and chinese whispers without fear of these members making sarcastic replies. It does sound like a fun place to hang out. Humbly yours StateSix

It is best to start a new topic when you have a new question as not many people will keep reading a long thread. Unless you have and O-A type issued for retirement you will only be allowed to stay 90 days on any entry.
