Thaksin Warns: Thailand's Economic Woes Worse Than 1997 Crisis
You're right. OK - would have inherited. They couldn't form a government because the old clans wanted them out and it wasn't long before they were banned. Rinse and repeat. The only ones allowed to hold power in Thailand are those allowed to hold power. And that has nothing to do with the vote. Very very sad really. Heartbreaking. -

Nurse Suspended After Refusing to Use Preferred Pronouns for Transgender Sex Offender
I can relate to that. In my last decade of nursing I had to refuse to be alone with a female patient in a room with the door closed more than once, and I had to be extremely careful of what I said as any "transgression" would have seen me in serious doodoo. Even reading a magazine with a female in a bikini on the cover had me attacked by one feminazi. I started my nursing career on a children's ward. By the time I left nursing I would never have even considered working on a children's ward. In the NHS it became so barking, that even female nurses were banned from giving children a hug if they were distressed. -

Police Officer Shot Dead and Car Set Ablaze in Narathiwat
Picture from responders. A deputy investigative inspector was shot dead in a brazen attack in Narathiwat province on the evening of 9 April. The assailants then set fire to a car at the scene in what authorities believe was the work of insurgents active in the region. At 18:55, local authorities were alerted by Mr. Sukri Yakariya, the village head of Pholang Moo 5, To Deng sub-district, that a vehicle was on fire on a road near Batu Bue Nae, a satellite village of Pholang. In response, Police Captain Hilemy Anusasnabut, deputy investigator at Su-ngai Padi Police Station, and Police Colonel Mataha Moona, the station chief, rushed to the scene with a team of police and military personnel. Upon arrival, officers found a sedan engulfed in flames. Firefighters were dispatched and took more than twenty minutes to bring the blaze under control. After extinguishing the fire, investigators discovered the body of Police Lieutenant Colonel Ammarit Apamaka, deputy inspector of the investigative division at Narathiwat Provincial Police, lying near the roadside. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds from an unidentified firearm. His body was transferred to Su-ngai Padi Hospital for a full autopsy. The area was immediately sealed off to allow for further forensic and investigative work. Early reports suggest the attack may have been carried out by local insurgent elements, as the area is known for the activity of violent separatist groups. Authorities are continuing to investigate and have vowed to pursue those responsible for the deadly ambush. -- 2025-04-11 -
