Flooding exacerbates in Sa Kaew; Aranyaprathet municipality completely inundated

SA KAEW, 8 October 2013 (NNT) – The heavy rains that lashed the province of Sa Kaew has resulted in Arunyaprathet municipality being completely inundated.

Several major roads in the province have been cut off due to flood water heights of between 50 centimeters and 1 meter, and consequently many communities have been isolated. Officials struggled on Monday to find detours for motorists who would otherwise be stranded on the road. According to provincial authorities, the current flood situation could be more severe than that of last year.

Meanwhile, flooding in the tourist hot spot of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khirikhan remained unresolved on Monday, due to continuous downpours that constantly add water to the inundation level, effectively hindering authorities' efforts to discharge the floodwater into the sea. Flooding was experienced as far as the Thai-Myanmar border in Huay Sat Yai and Bung Nakhon sub-districts.

The words from Bali seem to have been washed away in the flood and all we see is contempt and a lack of both assistance and compassion from those in puppet power.

They do not know what to do and will not admit it to save face. There again Vietnam, parts Cambodia, India, Pakistan and all surrounding countries are the same. Nothing can be done it is to big. Any of you guys that shout your heads off, do you know what the cure is.

Sorry to hear of your problems and I hope that all goes well for you and area. I'm in Hua Hin and the so called 'floods' here have almost disappeared as quickly as they came; suppose we are very very lucky living where we do, as we have one of the driest parts of Thailand according to the Thai Meteorological Statistics. I am moving my belongings upstairs already. I confirm 100% that Par Sak Dam is being opened, before it collapses.

I live in Khlong Luang, and my secretary is wife of the Governor's chief assistant.

I, or they, have no idea of the eventualities, or how far and at what heights the waters will arrive, but they are coming.

That's is all I still know. I have asked when the dam will be opened, but I was advised to start moving my things upstairs today, of course - with no answer.

yes boy..i know the answer..ask for professional advice.my guess foriegn would be best..but no we know what to do....they could have atleast made it less painfull.for the locals eh....you wont see any mp,s.with athletes foot..does that satisfy you ..

I saw the report in the other newspaper yesterday plus a translation from the evening news by a thai friend where people in the area fear the situation wil be as bad as 2011.

Even alowing for exaggeration by understandably distressed residents it's bad and we shouldn't forget only a couple of weeks ago the official line was it wasn't happening and wouldn't happen then as it did everything was under control.

When this is all over those at the top who made these crass statements will not offer an explaination and as is the way here will not be called to account.
