Visa Extension required docs ?

Featured Replies

I am a 54 yr. old American w/ a 1 year Non-Imm "B" visa ( teaching at a private school ). It's time for me to renew my visa the end of this month and need a sounding board for required docs as the Immigration Dept. website for "Required Docs" is non-functional.

TorMor 7 Application for extension ( recent 4x6cm.photo)

Valid and current work permit ( submit copies)

Copy of contract / agreement to work at said school

Copies of all necessary pages from passport i.e., arr./dept. card, etc..........

Here's where I'm not sure.......... I'm married to a Thai Yai ( she doesn't have citizenship) she's got a pink residency card and 2 Thai born children who live with us. We have a TaBienSomRot officially recorded Thai marriage certificate.

So I'm not sure if I need to account from my bank THB 40,000 or THB 20,000 each month for 3 months prior to my submitting the application for visa extension.

Your marriage would not be considered for the application because she is not a Thai citizen. You would apply as a teacher. Your school should should know the required documents. There is no minimum salary for teaching so that is not a consideration.

Screen shot of police order 305/2551 for required documents follows.

Per above.

A lot of the required documents you will also need for the work permit. That incudes a letter from the school, list of foreigners working at the school etc.

Thanx Mario 2008

To ubonjoe, thanx for the list of "required docs". smile.png I kinda thought that my wife wouldn't be considered. But the school I'm teaching at has no idea what documents i'd need for my visa extension...... I'm the first farang teacher that has had a work permit working there, and I had to attend to all of the paper work myself including paying the annual 3,000 THB fee.

I thought that I had read somewhere that for a teacher with whatever Non-Imm. visa had to have a minimum of THB 20,000 per month if a single person, or THB 40,000 per month if married to a Thai and supporting a family, in a Thai bank account no less than 3 months prior to visa extension renewal.?.?.?

As said, there is no minimum income requirement for a teacher.

Let your school call your local immigration office to check what documents are needed. Depending on the kind of school you might also need a teaching license or waiver of that.

You will also need documents from the tax office, showing your income and confirming you have paid your income tax.

I have a tax number from the tax office, but have not been working long enough to have been paying income taxes yet. I just started working this last March at the start of the 1st school term this year. So, I won't have paid my taxes (which aren't due) until next March.

I have included a copy of my tax I.D. card with my "required documents". Hopefully this will suffice along with the above explanation.

They should be deducting taxes from your income. Immigration will want proof of that.

There are some forms you can get from the tax office, that show you are paying tax. Talk with them or better have the school talk with them.
