Wait...it's like he's trying to say something...

BTW "Chav" is a word I had never heard before coming to Thailand. I don't think it's a western word. I think it's a UK word.

Would I wear a T-Shirt and shorts, in the middle of winter, in my home country - no. Would I wear them, all year, here - yes. :) :)

There are some things here that you do, gladly, that you wouldn't do in your "home country." :) :)

Another PWP?? coffee1.gif

And yes you would probably do the same in your homecountry. Or ?

If I could afford to do it in my home country I would.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Long term expats learn from the locals no doubt.

Moaning is the problem here. It's so dam_n hard to complain about the bad weather here as nobody back home cares. Therefore there need to be alternatives. What else there is to talk about?

If it was warm and stopped raining long enough, and I thought I could get away with it in the UK, I would drive a m/c with the whole family on board and no helmets.

I do it here almost every day.

I don't drink alcohol ever, but I do enjoy cheap sex with much younger women (or men that can dress as women and carry it off).

The real question is not 'would you do the same' but what would you be doing if you had not come here?

Yea I've thought about it and every time I do it make me more thankful that I made the decision to escape.

The OP should keep in mind that he's probably seeing these people enjoy the best moment of their life - perhaps the only good moment of their life.

Think backwards to how they must live at home if the behaviour you noticed is them pushing the boat out.

No we wouldnt and in some cases couldnt legally, its that attitude and mentality that made many of us leave to start with. Thailand has many freedoms that are enjoyed and preferred by many nationalities escaping the oppressive nanny states where you need a permit or licence to do just about anything.

Ah farang HiSo, usually its a LoSo Chang wifebeater.

Any way to answer the question, no.

No way would I marry some Chavess from the "estate" with 4 kids from 3 different fathers, no job, no prospects, waiting for the gyro to come in every week so she can head down the offie and get stocked up on el-cheapo cider.

No wonder the Thais laugh, farang mai reu rueang, chang man.

I love how cheap traditional massages are here, and shops are everywhere, it's such a good idea. I go all the time here and would never get a chance to back home. I know some people think massage is torture but I think its great for mind and body.

No mate you'll find most of them were ignorant scuzz long before landing on these shores. They'd still be ignorant scuzz if they'd chosen Greenland or the Gobi as an alternative place to lay their hat

In my own country I wouldn't get falling down drunk of an evening, and then sit at my computer and post nonsense.

When I lived in the Barrio I always got along with my neighbors, when I moved to the upscale neighborhood, was a very different story. You could live next to a person for years and never talk to them, Living in the village I interact with everybody and with all of my neighbors, something that is mostly unheard of in the states in mixed neighborhoods.

No more police coming to my house because the dog was barking, or we made a wood fire in the BBQ to make tortillas, or the grass was to long, the music was to loud, ect. People are more accepting here.

No more fists fights which I was involve with into my 60.s in the country bars I danced at in the states. and after I moved out of Pattaya.

I find a lot more freedom here than in the states as you needed to get a licence or permit to do most anything, life was to regimented and big brother was always watching,.

I am glad to have lived in the states as, I got a good education, and some great jobs after I graduated from the University of Arizona in my 40's, but as I got older, the country has changed, on a hundred & 50 miles to Rocky Point Mexico, I would be stopped at the most 6 times on the 100 mile on US side of the border on immigration check points It began to feel like a police state.

Here I feel more accepted, and feel free!

Cheers:wai2.gif

Have to agree loads of ''Chavs'' here... but they seem to be in the ''Patong'' area... (thankfully)...

Okay, just to straighten this out. "Chav" is an Essex (that's a county if Southern England for those not of English descent) word that comes from the Romany word "Chav" which means "child" In Essex it's used as a derogatory word describing a typically working class (or unemployed class!!) kid who likes to think that wearing fake designer clothes (as an example) makes him special. I think they have a similar word up north, Charver or something like that.

Blimey, I haven't heard the word "scuzz" in a while. The last time was when a mate of mine was describing a really minging family as a bunch of "scuzz-dollies"!!

LOL Mate. You also reminded me of my mate back home who described his brother in law ( a market trader) as a "minging pikey". He wasn't overly keen on the chap....

Cheap sex? Does that exist here?

Is BEEING( being) after expensive sex much better

I actually feel like I act more responsibly here. Drug experimenting 0 as I dont want to risk being busted and not drinking until im pissed because I dont want to get into a bad situation because lets face it... situations with drunk farangs and the BiB or Thai Men dont work out in our favor on this side of the world.

Only been here 2+ years as im 30 though... maybe I havent been here long enough.
