Depends on the age, but Thai children now also have an ID-card from age 5 or 6 I believe.

For air travel it is required at check-in.

Sorry, she is under 2 years - has original Birth Certificate, but no ID Card as yet

Than no ID-required as far as I know, but do take the birth certificate with you.

Edit:

Just checked, children age 7 and up are required to have an ID-card.

Thai ID card can be obtained at that age (I think it is 7 or 8) but is not always done. Their birth certificate or house book works for kids.

ID is required. And it had best be correct - we were almost denied boarding years ago in Chiang Mai because granddaughters name had been incorrectly entered on BC and had to be changed - ticket was in correct name - luckily had the document of correction in same folder as BC but airline staff failed to see (and even argued about it when pointed out).

Friends of us forgot the ID cards of their children. Luckily it was a domestic flight, so I ran over to their house and scanned the children's ID-cards and send it by email. They showed that on their children's tablet and the children were allowed to board (Airasia flight). Exciting 20 minutes for them.

We were not allowed to check in for our flight to Chiang Mai last year unless provided ID for my 3 and 6 year old. Luckily we had copies of their birth certificates on my laptop
