These foreign jumpers really are getting out of control. What if they landed on top of one or more innocent people and killed them as well !

There are farangs dying if full view of the general public everywhere in this country even in barber shops.

Why dont these silly fools go home.

Theyre an unwanted annoyance. If they dont have one foot in the grave before retiring in Thailand they're either cleaned out financially in stupid business/property ideas or dumped by some

worthless rice paddy girl.

Do you honestly think a guy in a state of mind to jump to his death is going to actually be able to think of stuff in your post. rolleyes.gif

falling off balconies (especially in pattaya) jumping from condos : thailand must be THE world leader in this dubious category. call me cynical, but i am beginning to suspect that the lyrics from that famed Beatles ballad "a little help from my friends" --enemies, perhaps more aptly-- could be applicable here. these apparently sudden, unexplained or self-inflicted deaths certainly save the police a lot of investigative work. should i visit pattaya again, i'll be asking for a hotel room on the ground floor without a balcony. just to be sure.

Yeah, where I come from we dont release the name to the media until it is confirmed that the family has been notified... and we never show gratuitious gore that benefits absolutely no one.

In this case I'll go ahead and claim our way is in fact better.

Specially at crimes I think it is good to tell the name.

In Europe we are already so political correct that most newspapers don't tell the nationality of a criminal unless he is European.

Why make it secret?

On suicide of course it makes less sense, but it isn't job of newspapers to keep things secret.

It's not their job to keep secrets.

Then again, it's not their job not to curse, lie or feature pornography either. But they somehow manage to be respectful in that manner.

In what way is it helpful for the general public to know the name of a murder victim before the family has been notified?

This is pretty far from the bleeding edge of political correctness. I didn't even see that one coming.

The police believe he had committed suicide by jumping off the balcony in his room.

<Snip

Until more is known this should be considered as an unfortunate accident.

Excuse me, where I do come from, suicide is an act of will, accident an act of fate.

Very big difference between the two.

OK you are excused.

I fully understand the difference between suicide and an accident.

The thing I do not know in this particular case was the reason for the fall.

The police believe....

What evidence do they have?

I cannot understand why you made your post.

Was it to get another count on your posts?

Do we get cookies if we post more? There is no evidence yet as to the cause of death. Was it a voluntary jump or somebody with a key to apt. Threw him and then left the scene . The police is investigating...........right...

Yes - he did jump. It happened a few metres from my apartment and he landed a good few metres from the base of his block. I heard his yell and then a heavy thump.

The photo is taken after he was moved (he landed face down). No one else was in his apartment that one could see so I'd say - for once- the report is correct.

Unfortunately it took about 15 minutes before the first wailing 'ambulance' arrived and the guys didn't have a clue about medical aid - no effort to establish a pulse or if he was breathing. The second real ambulance arrived after another 5 minutes and they tried to revive him without success.

Having said that I feel that the guy died a minute or two after he landed and he must have wanted to end it anyway. I hope he has found a better place without whatever caused him to jump.

Very sad to hear of another person taking his own life, condolences to the family

None of us really know what we would do if gripped by despair, loss, grief, mental instability etc. I just hope that if ever such a thing happens to me and I have no pulse when they arrive, that they bloody well don't try to revive me,,,,,,,for what?

If you censor the press...where do you start and where do you end?

Better have a few ugly things in the press.

What is it with Thailand and jumpers? I've been around this marble a long time and I cannot recall of another country with as many jumpers as in Thailand.

What is it with people asking about what the link is with Thailand and jumpers? I'm guessing you need someone to spell it out.

For those who are seeing out their final days Thailand is a place where they can satisfy all manner of physical desires for relatively cheap prices and then proceed to take their life. Ie if your going out make sure you have a blast before you do.

So, the OP who was only 42 years of age and was working in BKK, decides it was time to end his life and jumped from his balcony. Quite astute of you there old chap. Remind me to nominate you for the Inspector Ratchet awards later this year.

Besides, my query was more to the NUMBER of jumpers in Thailand and not the reason they jump, or are pushed.

I dont know if this is at LPN suk 77 but the balconies arent that low there, the windows however are.

For whatever reason its always makes me a bit sad, at times we have probably all felt like this.

Mr. Suchart said, once he arrived the man had already jumped off to his death.

Inside his apartment, police found no trace of any intruder, as the room was locked from inside

How did Mr. Suchart determine that Mr. Lelli had already jumped to his death if indeed the room was locked from the inside when the police arrived????

Yeah, much like the David Carradine case where he was found bound and hanging in a closet, yet it was suicide.

Oh here we go.

The armchair, cup o' Tetley's & Digestives detectives.

Using their honed insight acquired after years of recliner sleuthing to cast doubt on the reporting of the incident.

May God take care of him in heaven, sag again....

I hope he wasn't of Catholic faith.

I hope he was. However, to respond to your post directly, although I am not sure if it is worth the effort. God does not condemn those who have taken leave of their senses, he is merciful, and understands those that may not quite be thinking clearly. If it is the sin you allude to, why are the funerals services in a church? If you are in despair, your very thoughts are atrophied in a cloud of unbelief, nobody should be condemned for it.

We read here about how we talk, must be respectful in case a relative is reading, YET, a photo of his blood and guts are allowed. I really don't understand. sad.png

As you know t´ it is common in Thai papers, however although it is distasteful, I would not like to impose western views upon an Asian culture. Just as I don't like other cultures being imposed on western mores, views, and sensibilities.

Nice cop out

Although focused to an English speaking forum, May I suggest that it be more advisable, if at all possible to not include the photograph.

I have no idea what he is alluding to, there is no clear evidence with the information that we know at this time, whether it is suicide, or an accident, or otherwise.

A quite brilliant post, in so many paragraphs, take note people, this man talks sense, listen and learn. Well done

And what if he slipped?

In the realms of stats, getting fallen on by a suicide jumper? You do cross the road in Bangkok occasionally yes?

We have no idea whether this was an accident, and I have a screaming sneaking feeling that his opinion was a little sarcastic. If it wasn't, who the hell is he to describe who annoys who?

He yelled and you heard it? Not to be morbid, but what kind of yell was it? Like a yelp of "oh sh-t!" or a "Geronimo!" kind of yell? The reason I ask is because many jumpers who are depressed get an adrenaline jolt from the fall which snaps them out of their depression on the way down. Interviews with bridge jumper survivors have attested to this. This is a great doco about that great monolith to jumpers known as the Golden Gate Bridge.

Poor guy. Very sad that it ended for him this way. I could think of a dozen better ways to go than twitching on the pavement with a body full of broken bones. Seriously, RIP.
