PHUKET: A female striped dolphin was rushed to the Phuket Marine Biological Centre at 5.30am today after being washed up on shore.

It is believed that turbulent waves may have disorientated the dolphin, as there were two other striped dolphins that were momentarily stranded along with her.

The two other dolphins did manage to swim away after a short while though.

Arun Changnam, 26, a Karon Municipality Officer said he discovered the dolphin while he was exercising on the beach and had initially tried to help her get back into the water, but found that she could not swim.

It is believed that the original dolphin was unable to join her marine life mates as upon inspection at the PMBC it was revealed that she was heavily dehydrated owing to an oral infection.

The dolphin has been put on a saline solution, but it is too early to tell whether she will survive or not.

How can anyone post insensitive posts when a dolphin is in distress? All the best to the dolphin lady, I hope she survives.

Actually, what a coincidence: I just finished watching the movie "Dolphin Tale", a very nice movie about an injured dolphin in Florida.
