I want to import a jcb 3cx from the Uk to Thailand

does anyone know anything about getting the import license and how easy/or hard it is to obtain.

I dont want to buy one from Jssr on trat highway as what i have seen there is mostly tat.

I know the import tax is 5% and the vat is 7% on a front shovel, ie JCB 3Cx.

Just unsure about how to obtain the import license. Also can spares be added to the container IE spare wheels etc.

I will not not be trying to say i bought the digger for less than i actually have so all the paper work this end will be correct.

Thanks in advance for any sound advice i may recieve. Paul

There must be 100,s in bangkok, so many dealers all next to each other in one long line.

If you are determined to import you may get more help and guidance in the business section of the forum.

i am sure there are hundreds, i am talking about a 3cx though not a cat digger with tracks, but like cars in the uk against thailand its a no brainer. A £100 car in the uk is a £2000 car in Thailand.

Its the same with diggers or any machinery. So if its the business section of the forum maybe we can get a mod to move it over.

I just thought that general topics would have been the one.

If there is anyone out ther who has any sound advise i would be very grateful.

Possibly asking the obvious, but have you exhaustively researched that there are no other sources for a 3CX in Thailand? I am no plant man, but have done a lot of driving recently and there are som spanking new JCBs around these days - or, am I missing the point and you are looking to arbitrage them?

I used to manufacture parts for JCB in the UK, including all the buckets. Why not buy the JCB from JCB via their agent in Bangkok, Siam Motor Parts:

If you want to import yourself you will need to form a thai company W/VAT registered with customs. Then hire a local logistics company to clear the port and deliver to your final destination....this way you will pay tax and vat based on the hs system...

Darkling, forget the (s)crap you see mainly in Bangkok, these machines have in the most come from China and been refurbished -- I know, I bought a JCB and paid the price. Now I'm going back one year, maybe a bit longer but JCB tried to introduce their machines through Hino dealers all over the country. Every dealer had a demo model, asking price was about 3 million baht. It was a huge flop because Thai's only believe a ' macro ' can do their work, macro being their name for a back hoe loader. One dealer in Korat dropped their price to 2,800,000 baht if I paid a cash deposit while I was there. Possibly there are a few ex demonstration models still around ?

Hi Mate

Do it through forwarding company custom clearing agents. Toll Global Forwarding. They will sort everything out for you even shipping from UK.

Send email to: Jeff Cutmore. Email: [email protected]

Tell him all what you need and say Ken Devey from New Zealand gave you the details. We use Toll a lot for our Exports/Imports in New Zealand and I know Jeff here.

They will sort the licence for you.

Best of luck

Correct you have no choice but to use a forwarding company but most legit ones wont handle personal imports. Hence the need for you to have a thai company registered with customs.

Please let us know the outcome.
