Go via the airport, taking 7, 9, 1, 2 it may slow just after the airport and you will probably queue around Saraburi - but you will stay dry.

Ironically, its possible that if all the construction would have been carried out on land that didn't flood, the price would have been so prohibitive, the factories wouldn't have come.

In 2011 when there was more serious flooding, many people suggested assistance from the Dutch who have a good history of water control, albeit much to do with the North Sea. However, the powers that be in Thailand poo pooed the idea since Thais know as much as the Dutch about water control, in fact, they also have water propellant systems that the Dutch don't know about.

The PTP have the flooding under control, as we are reminded frequently by Yingluck and Plodprasop and this time they are allowing the eastern areas to have their share of floods, thus sparing the central and lower north for the time being.

The Japanese factories must be reaching their threshold of pain with Thailand. Tokyo will be pulling the plug soon.

304 was flooded near the mountain pass last week, only passable by wagons and pick up trucks.

Hundreds of stranded motor bikes. Police were actually encouraging pick up trucks to take stranded cyclists in the back to increase their weight.

0.75 metre deep. A bit of a hairy drive. Saw a few tankers capsized that had been washed away.

The 2 was clear and fine from Nakhon Ratchasima.

Comparing flash flood problems of one city to an almost total lack or preparedness for a whole, large region is a fairly poor analogy, though a logic that the Thaksin regime no doubt shares.

Behind my home in Rayong was a natural flood plain that was filled with thousands of truckloads of earth and gravel in preparation for building condos. Anyone could see that this was a disaster waiting to happen and now both up and down the river there has been tremendous flooding where there had been none before. Your post is dead on.

You are right, but you forgot a total mismanagement on the dams.

They let them get complete full and release water at the worst possible time, instead of doing it before.

It is of course hard to see if they were doing it at the right time. I mean if no rain had come then they would have been right. Now they are wrong because they held back to not add to the flooding only to have to release it during flooding because more rain came. These dams are not as big as the ones that help Bangkok. They hold 80% of all capacity in Thailand (south excluded). Small dams fill up quickly.

Today news from Malaysia: Cameron Highlands - very touristic place.

They have big dam there.Yesterday they had to release water from it to prevent it from burst;causing FLOOD downstream.

3 people killed including 2 foreigners.

Floods are everywhere;in Malaysia they have very competent flood managment.One of TV members works for them.may be he will give us detailed account of this disaster.
