Drug dispute ruled out in probe of Jakkrit murder, police say

BANGKOK: -- Metropolitan Police chief Lt-General Camronwit Toopgrajank said yesterday that a drug conflict had been ruled out as a possible motive for the shooting murder of Olympian marksman Jakkrit Panichpatikum.

A meeting of case investigators deduced that Jakkrit, 40, had a record of drug abuse but was not a dealer and had no clashes with his suppliers, so a separate probe was launched to arrest those pushers and their drug ring.

Police are now focusing on three other possible motives with equal weight -involving the Buddha-amulet trade, Thai shooting association and the victim's family and should narrow them down to one by tomorrow, Camronwit said.

Last Saturday, two men on a motorcycle fatally shot Jakkrit while he was driving his Porsche in Bangkok's Min Buri district. He was pronounced dead at Seriruk Hospital. Police have offered a Bt200,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the two killers.

So. it takes the murder of a sports celebrity for the police to probe into a drug ring? Aren't they supposed be doing that on a daily basis as part of their job? Only joking., I've lived here long enough to know how ridiculous that question is.

Read in the paper, that can't be mentioned, that during his detention for beating up his wife and MIL, the wife managed to remove 30-40 million worth of valuables from his bank security-box.

So my guess is, that the wife, instead of being a sitting duck, decided to take action and hired a couple of guys to solve the problem!

With access to that kind of money, I am sure you can make big enough contributions to the police retirement fund, to make sure the "investigation goes your way.

Police conclusion after months of hard investigative work: Suicide gone wrong!! The guys on the motorbike were trying to commit suicide, but when trying to shoot themselves, they missed the target and the bullits accidently hit the driver in the next lane! Case closed.

Did you see his wife on TV at 1st interview. Completely emotionless. Talking like a witness of a motorcycle accident. Probe his Muslim family members, I would say.

Been following this with interest.

30-40 Million THB missing, claimed taken by wife.

Wife claims he attacked her before.

Was valuable amulet dealer.

Went to high ranking police officer to seek protection. Or not. Maybe just a social call! Police officer was amulet dealer too.

Was drug user.

We will never, EVER find out the truth behind this one but I am keen to see what they spin the "truth" as....
