Tranlsation PLEASE for Additional Visa Extension forms (all in Thai)

Featured Replies

Hi smile.png ,

When I last applied for my Retirement Visa extension (Khon Kaen Immigration Office) I was taken by surprise when given 3 further forms to complete, when expecting only one.

The I expected and recognized was the "Acknowledgement of the conditions for permitted continuation of stay in the Kingdom of Thailand" (it is printed in both Thai and English (template appears on this Forum) - No problem

However the other 2 were new to me and both 100% in Thai. I struggled with my partially English speaking Thai wife in completing them. My wife is not an expert on official forms and translating meaningful (to me) terminology, so things got lost in translation.

This time I decided to ask for the forms well in advance so I can complete them in at my leisure. One Form has a front and back page and the other is Single sided.

I asked the Young Lady on the information desk if they had a Thai/English version - "No".

I asked if there was a Thai Immigration Web Site that had an English version or interpretation - "No".

I asked how I can complete the forms accurately if I do not understand what is being asked - "Get wife fill in".

There was little more the young lady could have suggested in the circumstances. HOWEVER many Thai official forms (these included) require signatures that are often confirming the accuracy of the answers.......".

I take all Immigration forms very seriously (as I should). I do not like completing any kind of Official forms (in any country) that I have no idea what the questions are asking and when I know some aspects will be certainly be lost in translation.

Please may I ask a Thai speaking/reading member if

a) They know what these 2 forms are?

cool.png If someone will be very kind and interpret the forms.

Then I, and others, will be able to complete these forms accurately and honestly, even if we cannot read a word they say.

I did search the ThaiVisa Visa Forms Template Pinned Post Section but could not find these 2 forms

Many thanks and Kind Regards

I just did my extension yesterday in Nakhon Sawan. The immigration officer filled in all of the info in English, which I reviewed, and asked me to sign the form as she had done in years past. My wife was with me and she was asked to sign one of the forms also.

Without translating both forms comprehensively, I can tell you that the reason they are only in Thai is because they are intended to be filled in by Thai nationals (i.e.Thai wives, partners etc). The back of Form A is asking for personal details, both the usual name and address stuff and also more detailed questions such as Thai person's parents' names, nationalities, how you got to know each other, where and when you were married, how long you've lived together and so on.

Form B is asking the Thai person what she/he knows about you - your name, passport number, your profession or former profession, income and so on.

All rather intrusive I'd say, but no doubt the authorities would defend such questions on the grounds of security, both national and personal. No doubt, as with most of these things, you can find someone to fudge answers if you find the questions objectionable. If your wife is unable or unwilling to fill in the forms and you don't have a Thai friend to help, I suggest, rather than pay for an expensive lawyer, you find a notary public and get him to fill in the forms with help from your Thai wife. That shouldn't cost more than a hundred or two.

I thought they looked familiar. I think the two sided one is the statement that is done when getting extensions of stay based marriage. I believe the other one is done also because I had to sign forms like that when I do my extensions but the statement is already filled out as they ask my wife the questions and then it printed out for our signatures.

Why they are asking for them when doing an extension based on retirement I don't have a clue about.

Can't give you a decent translation, but I recognise Form A, which records the details a wife gives when interviewd for the 777/2551 Case 2.18 Family Member of a Thai extension.

Form records your full name, address, your parents names, income. length of stay in Thailand and so on - it is a form of statement to be signed by your wife in support of your appliaction.

Normally the immigration guys ask the questions and enter your wife's responses, then your wife is asked to sign it.

Strange that they wanted your wife to make a statement for an extension based on reitirement.

Guess it's then all ok if immigration only ask for 400,000 THB in the bank and give you an extension based on having a Thai Spouse!

Perhaps just because his wife was with him so automatic reaction was to provide the Thai wife forms to her?

These forms are issued by Female Pol. Lt. Aroonrat Thongsai, Deputy Inspector, Khon Kaen Immigration Bureau. They are structured as an interview of a Thai wife applying for a 1 year extension of stay for an alien husband (yes, the genders are specific - not Thai husband applying for his foreign wife). The first two pages ask questions such as where do you live, how many people live there, names of your parents, siblings. There is a question about how you met your husband and who introduced you and some gentle probing about the details of the marriage registration and whether you got married of your own volition or whether you were paid to get married. The last page is just confirming details of husband and wife and that she wants to apply for him to stay for another year as a temporary resident.

That is all quite normal at KK Immigration.

My wife has to fill them in also.

Takes ages. biggrin.png

Thanks for the replies smile.png .

Am I correct that most of you are saying that these forms (or at least one of them) is really ONLY intended for an "Extension Visa based on marriage".

If that is the case I am confused why I or my wife were/may be asked again in future to complete them just because my wife is with me, when my Extension Visa has always (7 years) been based on Retirement & never on marriage"

If my wife was honest in completing such forms she would say "not sure" on most questions as I take 100% responsibility for my Visa and all aspects, finances and details. She has been told all but doesn't bother much with such things, and when she is interested she asks and I tell/show her.

Maybe I was given the forms in error as my wife was with me. The problem I find is if I ask "why" on something (as I did with my last extension) it seems to be taken as a challenge (despite my friendly tone and demeanour), rather than the intended genuine wish to understand.

It is regrettable no one has been able to interpret the forms exactly as I could really have helped my wife with the exact information, she will need in answering them. Last time my wife kept asking me at the Imm. office (forms having just been presented to us as we walked in). Some of the questions she translated did not make any sense to me (clearly translating literal wording that made not sense in English). My wife was getting frustrated & flustered that I did not understand, and I felt flustered and under pressure in not being able to. The appearance to Thai officials may have been wrongly interpreted as me being unwilling/resentful in answering which is not helpful when one goes a few minutes later to apply for the extension.

In truth I am not a secretive person and do not care who knows what I earn etc. but I do like to know that what I am stating is the required information before signing any official form. In this case I will have no idea what the exact questions are, or whether I accurately answer them to my wife (or whether she fills them in correctly. Certainly nobody filled them in for us last time (be it in Thai or English), we were told not to worry on a few when we were both clearly confused on what was being asked.

Yes Lite Beer...takes ages... Last time I did my extension when I arrived at KK Imm. there was a moderate queue in front of us. I got my ticket. I had all my documents already sorted and in logical order (even brought a screen dump of the Bangkok Bank exchange rates for that day to help Imm. as last time they asked if I knew that day's ER - I told them I only knew the day before).

I was all prepared, calm and then the girl at the desk thrust these 100% in Thai forms (or very similar) in my hands saying they must be completed but could give me no interpretation at all. My wife did her best and in the end we were called before we had finished. Not wishing to get another ticket and go back to the end of the now building queue, we went to the Officer and said we had done our best to answer. The officer did not seem bothered by any omissions.

By the way I was again asked (as with last year) if I knew the ER for the day. I gave the Officer my screen dump of Bangkok Bank ERs (only 1 hour oldtongue.png ) which took the officer by surprise but was appreciated.

You see, I try to be helpful when I know what is or may be wanted biggrin.png (hence my asking about these forms in advance of my next Extension renewal visit).

Maybe when I do my next 90 Day report I will take these forms with me and ask (via my wife) exactly which are required for my future Retirement Visa Extension Application.

You are correct, normally only if you extend based on marriage to a Thai wife.
