I imagine the availablity of spares might be a problem, could involve waiting weeks for something to be shipped from Europe.

Thank you for the help. Ive always been convinced that Mercs do seems to last longer, I think there is a few Cities in the World like Terhan, Istanbul etc where every Taxi is an old Merc.

Judging from the photos it's had more hits than the Beatles. Front RHS fender is different shade of White to the RHS doors, LHS rear quarter looks different shade of White. Front bumper is twisted.

If the previous didn't care about the body repair's, what was their attitude to mechanical service???

No problem to go for it. W123 are good cars. many parts in BKK. I also got one ( 280CE) for years now.

But by no chance it is a 1986 Model ! W123 are built up to 84 and just checking the pictures this one must be a a early 80. max 1982 !

Steering wheel is the old version.

1986 as stated in the blue book is the 1st. Thai registration year of the car. Before that been used in England for a couple of years. Usually 5-10 ! No car dealer tells you this fact !

105.000 is pretty cheap ! Must have some issues and for sure you will invest a few bucks in repairs.

Benz parts are expensive ( compared to japs), especially the CIS fuel injection system and it's parts.

check the auto gear box ! slipping gears, slow shifting will end in expensive repairs. Just for the needed parts like break bands, seals, spring kits you spend 20-30.000 baht - Just the parts !

and most thais mechanics won't touch it.

as for all old Benz cars. the mechanically better car is always the better buy ! cosmetics are cheap and easy.

Sorry to correct you, but the W124 startet in October 1986 (Modelyear 1987), you can read here in the german WIKI: "Vom Serienbeginn im November 1975 bis Januar 1986 liefen insgesamt fast 2,7 Millionen Fahrzeuge vom Band."

They've been build up to January 1986 and sold until September (and with the W124 the Taxi-Drivers "happiness" began to start...)

I'm gonna guess this thing will unfortunately be a money pit. There's better ways to get behind the three pointed star - save your time and money.

do not see why ? lots for sale around, even on http://www.taladrod.com the W123 model starting around 58,000 baht, so 105,000 appears about the right price..

myself if I wanted an older Benz then like the looks of W124 model better, and very little more in price. still think my old Audi A6 is better..
