Not sure if this is the right section....

but I am renewing my passport and at the same time applying for my daughter's 1st

I was hoping to send them off together along with fees etc but just noticed that for 1st passport one has to apply in person in BK . Is that correct ? ..

UK passport I presume.

It would help if you stated your Nationality.

If you are a UK citizen the answer to your question is Yes !

If you have not registered your daughters birth at embassy yet it would require all the previously mentioned people and documents.

She has a Birth Certificate issued by British Embassy BK

Does that change anything ?

Edited by churchill

The baby maybe has a Thai birth cert as well !

Do not believe that changes anything but you have the means of contacting the Embassy if you wish to check.

Yes it changes things a lot download the guidance notes for getting a child's passport.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-for-united-kingdom-passport-for-applicants-under-16-notes

Important to note this

"This is not the same as registering a birth at a British
consulate/Embassy/High Commission overseas."**
I would urge the OP to contact the Embassy

If the child has consular certificate of birth it does change things.

Edit: screen shot in next post.

That is same document I posted link to.

Sure.

Which is why I urge the OP to speak to the Embassy

Fine to check with embassy. This is where having consular birth certificate changes requirements.

 The child's original consular birth certificate; OR  The child’s full foreign birth certificate and the mother’s original UK long version birth certificate or original naturalisation/registration certificate; or the father’s original UK long version birth certificate or original naturalisation/registration

I believe so !

Sorry about the debate with ubonjoe but hope you found it useful.

If a journey is involved an email or telephone call to the Embassy may prove to be helpful.

Yes thanks ..

will e-mail and update later

My main point was all the additional documents required mentioned in the earlier posts and no questions about the birth already being registered. Because there is a big difference.

  • 3 weeks later...

Regarding payment, I plan to apply in Bangkok next week, the credit card authorisation form on the website says it is for hong kong, can I just take my credit card to the embassy or would cash be better?

Are you applying for your self or for a child?

For you it has to be sent to HK.

It is for my daughters first passport.

Just checking. I think I would take cash.

Just to confirm, just got back from the embassy, they take debit/credit cards and cash. In and out in less than 45 minutes. Very nice service.
