I noticed that the hotels around this region and near the chao priya river are the really hi so ones like marriott, lebua, shangri-la.

Why is this so? Also as you guys know how traffic is like in bkk isn't taking a taxi to this region going to be like a real real hassle?

From say the rest of town like ratchada, maybe the middle of sukhumvit etc. I'm just curious why is this region of bkk considered upmarket like what's the reason for it? Is it cos it's close to the river? It's far from the airport, both airports.
