Curt1591
Yes: I get that. But, they are in English. Most people, outside of Thailand, don't know from amnesty, don't know from Thaksin, and, most importantly, don't give a flying backflip. Gsxrnz
Jeez - a recent multi page thread criticizing and haranguing the Kingdom for not having enough English language skills, and when they use the language we lambast them for it! It's a no win situation!
cornishcarlos
Maybe because the majority of people posting these are educated and understand English, along with most of their friends that will see these posts... Just a guess

Just a guess Kind of a "Look at me; I'm a protestor!" thing ... Don't underestimate the power of protests via social media. These get shared around the globe, not just in Thailand. You might be surprised by the amount of support that can be gained in a very short space of time on an international level. Why do you think these sites are banned by dictators ??? Rumblecat
Mind you, I think Curt had already made up his mind that it's a fashion statement before the thread was started, judging by the 'sheep' protest sign that's his avatar. To most folk it would seem simple- why did protestors in Iran share English language slogans..? Because they were aware of the power of social media and external international pressure. And yeah, there can be pride in protesting. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Edited November 8, 2013 by Rumblecat
