nellyp
Hi, I am leaving my current job and need to cancel my work permit. I understand that I can just take it to the labor office and they will cancel it there and then. I may find this difficult as my school are going to be unwilling to let me have the time off to do this through the week. My school are rubbish with admin and i am worried they will simply not do the cancellation. If I start at a new school, what will happen if they apply for a WP and this one has not been cancelled (different part of Thailand). Is it possible for me to cancel the WP in a different labor office? Cheers for any help
Mario2008
There is a form to cancal the work permit, believe you could send the form by mail. Your wp needs to be cancelled before they will issue a new one. Don't forget, if on an extension of stay based on work you will also need to cancel your extension of stay and apply for a enw extension of stay for with the new employer. digitalchromakey
You don't need your previous employer's help in any way to cancel a WP, fill out the form attached below and take it to the Labour Dept where it was issued, along with original WP. There is a proxy form so that some one else can do the cancellation on your behalf: wp_cancellation.pdf Edited November 8, 2013 by digitalchromakey

My boss has told me to leave the work permit with him and he will cancel it for me. i thought it was possible to have more than one wp at the same time, as you are supposed to have a work permit for each job you have; so working for 2 language schools you would need 2 work permits. I have a non o spousal visa so I am not affected by the wp. How will I know if my wp gets cancelled?
ubonjoe
You can have 2 employers in one work permit but not 2 work permits.
Mario2008
You can have more than 1 work permit, under circumstances. (If working in different areas). If in the same area, the new employer would be added to the WP (but only after approval of the first employer). You do not have to submit the actual work permit, the letter/form will be enough. Best deal with the cancellation yourself (get a proxy to go to labour on your last day of work to cancel) since you posted that your current employer is unreliable (your words - 'rubbish with admin').
