Good Hotel Near The U.s. Embassy?

Featured Replies

Anyone know of a good hotel near the U.S. Embassy?

I stayed at PJ Watergate before, but it was pretty expensive

and not that great. I was thinking about 800-1000 baht a

night would be okay.

Depends on the definition of near........

Do you want to walk to the embassy or just have a short taxi ride?

In my opinion, anything on Sukhumvitt up to around Soi Asoke is an easy trip to the embassy.

Hmm that rules out the Conrad - it's right next door to the US Embassy.

I don't think you will find very much for 800-1000 baht. The baht is now trading at 37.65 to the US dollar.

King's Hotel near the Sukhothai Hotel on Sathorn Road. They will have those rates. Another option is Malaysia Hotel and the area just down the soi from JUSMAG. Walking distance to the Embassy or a short bus trip. :D

My choice is Plaza Athenee, but not within your budget. Very nice property where the old Imperial was located. :D

:o

When I was getting visa's for my in-laws a few years ago, we stayed at the Nana Hotel. Not great and still more than you are looking to pay, but it was within walking distance and I think at the time was about 1200 baht/night per room. Can't say that my mother-in-law was impressed by the nightlife. My father-in-law on the other hand had no complaints :o

If you are taking a taxi then the traffic getting out of Sukhumvit can be a nightmare.

There are quite a few reasonably priced hotels in the Pratunam district and it, too, is a short taxi ride away. But then, sometimes the traffic getting out of there can be a nightmare too!

We stayed at Jims Lodge a couple of years ago Jims Lodge

Nice hotel, nice staff and reasonable price.

A couple of hundres Baht over your budget but only a short walk to the embassy !

Thanks for all the suggestions. I haven't decided on one yet, but

Royal Asia on Sukumwit Soi 8 is looking good. 1000 baht/night,

but it did get one bad review on epinions.
