Gen. Sonthi doubts pulling out the amnesty bill would resolve current conflicts

BANGKOK, 11 November 2013 (NNT) - Former coup d’etat leader which ousted the government of Thaksin Shinawatra, and Matubhum Party leader, Gen. Sonthi Boonyaratglin, stated his doubts about current conflicts being resolved merely by the Senate refusing to pass the amnesty bill.

The Matubhum Party leader also stated that he agreed with the government to open a stage for all sides to voice their opinions on the matter - saying that without opportunities to negotiate, the situation may turn violent.

Gen. Sonthi further stated that the army will not get involved in the political arena this time round, as past experiences, he said, have shown him otherwise.

General Sonthi was one of the politicians who proposed the six reconciliation bills already withdrawn by the government.

You want to talk about a cancer in Thai politics, here is your man. He would feel more at home in Burma.

Yes indeed - from 2006 coup leader to Thaksin's bought and paid for acolyte. He represents everything reprehensible in Thai politics, a man without moral principles.

The General is quiet correct, however the present or the continuing conflicts are the doing of Thaskin Shinawatra and the PTP , destabilizing the country political system and seemingly a bland disrespect for the rule of law, this influence will continue till the Shinawatra name and the PTP are a spent force , only then will harmony return to Thailand bah.gif

I have never seen a country where people with apparently no principles are lauded in public office.

It's almost as though they are bipolar and see themselves in the 3rd person

Well:

Austria

Germany

France

UK

USA

Japan

Greece

Cambodia

Thailand

If in harmony you mean the other bent party will be in power and the status quo from the past 50 years is restored then i agree. I will be happy for whoever party to get in power next as long as they damn well do something about corruption, education etc. Previous experience has shown that for all the Democrats talking when they are in opposition, they fail to take any measures and action on the issues they preached when they are in power.
