Popular Post lostinisaan Posted November 13, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2013 There are many millionaire if not billionaire crocodiles in the senate and house of representatives in the Philippines. they should be the first to have donated to their fellow Filipinos. hellodolly Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 This is the longest post I have ever made here. If you have the time to read it, you will understand why I was am suddenly so wordy. Tonight there is a fundraiser on Thai TV at 8:30. I commented on it at the Bangkok Post, but the moderators never posted it. You can also donate directly to the manila chapter of the red cross, which I recommend (all things considered). I sent 6000 baht yesterday. It is cheap to be a hero today. For 1000 baht, the cost of a couple bottles of Pipers, a family of four will have rice and medicine in 2-3 days, instead of the 1-2 weeks it will take for the Western cavalry to arrive and take action. If you read the article above, that means those without food for the last five days will die before the Big Guys can arrive. This is not prediction, it is fact. Human beings cannot live without food for 19 days. There is, therefore; the real prospect of cannibalism. It is cheap to be a hero today. If I asked you in person, and showed how there was no scam involved, I know half of you would do it. The help incoming is many days away, a funeral away for these people, and limited. The Red Cross is coordinating, meaning they are also going where the Cavalry ships and planes are not going. Amazingly, the logistics are well-coordinated. Probably good old UK and US process flow theory in action altogether. The area of destruction rivals 40% of the total area of the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Philippine population is more than double of the Thai population. Please consider it. It is equivalent to 30 of 77 provinces being annihilated here. Please. If this happened in your home country I would write a letter like this, if I knew the channels I recommended were not extortion artists. Just so you know, the American Red Cross runs the Philippine branches. They are audited by the IRS (called the Infernal Revenue Service), and have a tight rein on incoming funds. The Red Cross has 24% operating costs, but the food ration I stated was after the 'admin cost reduction'. In the Philippines, 760 baht buys a LOT of rice and medicine, enough to feed and care for four people for two weeks or more. The link takes you to a secured page, and if you scroll to the bottom you can use PayPal, Internet ATM cards, and internet active Visa/Mastercards (all processed by American Banks, who are real b_astards about IRS audits, because the IRS is the only federal agency that can body slam them). It is cheap to be a hero today. Be a hero. Lead by example. Show that ten men and women of the West have more combined heart than all the millions of corrupt politicians here put together, and I am meaning all of Asia. The link is at http://www.redcross.org.ph/donatenow If you can help, please help. Please. Who knows who you might save? Maybe some child who grows up and cures leukemia, or invents cheap solar energy, or gets a job in Bangkok in a few years and inadvertantly meets one of your family in a zebra crossing (and you never recognize each other as you smile and go on)... Sincerely, hopefully, and with respect and civility, Me PS: Please forgive the longest post I have ever sent to Thai Visa Forum. This is important to me, and I don't even know anyone there that is in the scrum. It is all for a good cause and you are rite donate any way you can. Thank you for the link. How ever as has been mentioned several times here getting the goods to the people is extremley hard due tio the inadequate infrastructure in a disaster of these proportions and there are terrorists ambushing some of the food caravans. Apparently the U S Navy will be there shortly and with their helicopters will be able to move a lot of supplies. Like I said in an earlier post I hope they are armed and granted free use of their armament if they see any of those terrorists. Perhaps Thailand could send some soldiers to protect the food caravans. They don't seem to have to much to do other than in the South. 1

They are there and don't fly from far countries. Yet again this country continues to shoot itself in the foot, its reputation preceeds it. Isnt this the same country that basically kicked Uncle Sam out of Subic and Angeles? Lets go back 40 years, Singapore and the PI, whats happened since. 1
elektrified Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 The Thai government should give or sell the over stock rice to the Phillipines. Better then stored in a warehouse waiting to get rotten. It's too late. The rice is already rotten.
Shancloudy Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I wonder if the philippines helped thailand during the 2004 tsunami incident. I don't think so but the philippines is so poor i don;t think they could even afford to send a team. As a Filipino, it's hurt for me to read that people saying that my country are poor. You don't know the factual history of Philippines. We filipinos are hardworking and Philippines economy matching the pace of China as the two fastest growing in Asia but since Philippines is near in the Pacific Ocean we experiencing lots of typhoon ( cyclone ) every year and earthquake billions of money are spending for calamity aid. Two thirds of all the gold in the world is in Philippines and one third is devided among the rest of the countries of the world. Politicians in different country knows that Philippine is the richest country. During the interview President Bush was asked which is the richest country in the world and he said Philippines. They knew where are the money deposited. Like freezing of the Romanov Swiss account it was freeze up to day. And lots more. 2
Popular Post elektrified Posted November 13, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2013 I read somewhere China sent 100k gbp to help, whilst uk as usual donates millions. Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand Yes that is correct China donated $100,000 what a joke. OZ, GB, Japan and some others donated 10 million each. US 18mil, ships, planes, helicopters, medical supplies and food. Aus has sent medical teams, planes and some ships on the way. As much as I dislike the U.S. government, I have to give them credit. When there is a disaster and people need help either at home or a foreign country far away, they always step up immediately and give generously as well as using the resources of the military, fire fighters, medical experts, and the list goes on and on. The U.K. Australia, France, and many other countries also give generously and provide their resources too. 4
Shancloudy Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I'm just praying to God to spare us more typhoons, storms and earthquakes. We feel bruised from all sides, battered from top to bottom and beaten up inside and out. We are working hard to have a better life but almost every month we are experiencing typhoon. You have no idea what we feel now. 1

Most of the information on the Internet about this theory is either Facebook pages or forums. No real facts. hellodolly Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) Aid isn't being distributed in the Philippines mainly because of the hopeless Central Government. All that "stored" THAI Rice could be put to good use but that might need some joint action from both sides of Thai politics. Aid isn't being distributed in the Philippines mainly because the infrastructure is not there to allow for the amount of aid needed. The Chinese are showing an utterly mean spirit in the matter. For crying out loud, even the Japs are doing a lot better, although some of the older people in the Philippines probably think it is the Second Invasion, considering the current argument over territorial rights. Can only hope that the various authorities "on the ground" can get their act together and not just see this as a way to "skim" the aid that is being sent. The US and England will get there soon with helicopters and make it far easier to get the aid to the needy. Let us hope the Philippines cooperate with the nations giving aid. Not like Burma and Thailand when they were in need they turned down help. What can Thailand donate? Similar kind of Aid, that Thailand received from around the World for the Tsunami disaster of 2003! Short memories often go hand in hand with deep pockets. I used to live in Phang Nga in 2003 and we'd just moved to the northeast when the Tsunami hit that area on Christmas 2004. We're crying, when we saw the disaster on TV, even the ID card of a Thai friend they're looking for.. Germany for example had sent 10 million Euros first Aid, but almost nothing arrived at those poor guys who'd lost all and many relatives and friends. Including foreign tourists. We drove to Phang Nga immediately and there was no first aid to see. Only the dead bodies, pretty difficult to find out who it was, as some were in salt water for a longer period of time. Then you couldn't even say which ethnic race the dead body belonged to. Then the unbelievable.... The German BKA ( Bundeskriminalamt, similar to the FBI) had also sent forensic experts, who started their job immediately. Until some weird Thais accused them of working without a work permit. Thailand said that they'd have enough of those specialists and they'd to leave the country. I'm afraid that this catastrophe had killed many people and made a lot homeless. Now it's all about surviving. I've realized that most Thais don't even know that something in the Philippines has happened. I had heard stories like that and was very Naive at the time. I did not arrive in Thailand for another year and two years before I came and stayed. I now have been here many years and have been able to watch the actions of the people in control then and am no longer surprised at what they do. I don't believe that most Thais knew what happened to the help in the Tsunami when it hit Phuket, Hopefully they will reach out to help some one this time. They are in a position where any thing that looks good for them is desperately needed. I hope they find some one who is not only capable but also carrying enough to handle the situation for them. MAJIC Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Thailand is almost bankrupt....what money are they going to donate? What can Thailand donate? Aid is already landing from many other Countries in the world, including £10,000,000 from the UK and also charity organisations collections, are in full swing. Makes me sick when I see China (one of the top 3 richest countries),donating a miserable £100,000. Let's wait and see if Thailand will help the Philippines ,as the world helped Thailand's people after the Tsunami.
CraigSchuler Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I asked a few Thai's what their opinion on this was and they all replied.... What has the Philippines done for Thailand! 2
MilesofSmiles Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Given all the help it got when hit by a Tsunami, it's quite poor that Thailand offers nothing to its close neighbor. To say Thailand is poor is bullshit, it's not. Just ignorant. They could offer assistance, or rice, etc 1
HUAHIN62 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Yes the government is sending a aircraft in with food, medicine, doctors and sniffer dogs. They also started a fund where people can donate funds. 1
inthepink Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 World events does not seem like a priority here. Take a look at the Bangkok Post coverage and you will see what I mean. Like everything else, I guess I will have to ship in a US paper like the New York Times if I expect quality. This is Thailand. Read a Thai language newspaper. Why rely on the extremely limited English language press?
Andre0720 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I asked a few Thai's what their opinion on this was and they all replied.... What has the Philippines done for Thailand! Yeah... Same same (sic) as ''What has the poor done for the rich?'' 1

fcgprg Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Thai Channel 3 have raised 3,880,000 Baht in the last 24 hours from Thai people donating to the bank account details displayed on the TV. 1
Popular Post nonthaburial Posted November 14, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2013 How much has Imelda Marcos and the rest of the Philippine fat cats donated. ? And what about the richest "business" in the world, that dominates the country and dictates to the government, yes I mean the Catholic Church. Very good at taking from the poor but that's about it. Disgraceful 6

He showed to the world that Thai government and its people can handle their problems. So do you blame Philippines or other countries if their help were denied? Philippines, I think, sent a team of doctors or their red cross team. 1

The middle eastern countries didn't help their neighbours either... It seemed like you are happy if Thailand and other neighboring countries of Philippines do not help. You are lucky, you are not among the victims. Maybe someday something will happen to you and you want to handle your own problem even if somebody offers a hand. Robby nz and all these other hypocrites think that by insisting that "others" should do more while they themselves do nothing, somehow demonstrates compassion. All it demonstrates is that they are callous buffoons who would rather sit behind a keyboard and criticize than to actually do something. 1
Shancloudy Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 The Philippines is sorrounded by warm bodies of ocean water thats why Philippines are always visited by typhoons. My country battered by cyclones that form over the pacific ocean it also lies along the pacific ring of fire where tectonic plates collide and about 80% of the largest occur. I'm from Philippines and I watched several typhoons. We filipinos are tired from criticism saying that my country are poor. You guys didn't know what we are going through you are not in Philippines to experience of waking up at night to run and to save our life because of typhoon. We can handle all the pains but its hard to accept the criticism from other people because they don't understand our situation.we are working hard to have a better life, work and save to build a beautiful house but in just an hour typhoon will destroy all.
