.....and its people plus majaority of the population condones corruption plus the same majority will not raise an evelid about selling their mothers, daughters or even sons these days for a mere Bt 500!

i suggest you go to a thai neighborhood and say that - and see how badly you get beaten down into the ground.

They are strugling to stay in power. It's inevitable that PTP will be gone, now or a bit later. The missunderstood fugitive will set up another party to play the same game. His credibility in the eyes of the voters in the north is fading as well. In due time Thailand will become a real democracy with much more decent politicians.

The times they are a-changing. Slow yet steady.

Yes - the support in the north is nothing like in the past...even they see what is going on.....

Unbelievable

He said the DSI told him the money routes would be exposed by the end of this month. The businesspeople involved would be summoned for interrogation.

So the government is only interested in money laundering if it is not one of their backers?

Suporn also said military weapons had been smuggled from the Thai-Malaysian border while vans with "Thanapat" stickers were used for transport. He claimed a certain protest leader would incite violence.

Is that illegal Thaksin did it and your government has done nothing to him. Are you publicly admitting to double standards?

How much more corrupt can they get?

Just when you think they have learned that the people are fed up with the governments nonsense the government get's more nonsensical.

Lucky for them the Minister of Defense is the Female half of the cloned Prime Minister.

Just thinking in print but I wonder what the Generals think about the way she is turning into a big joke. I don't think they are exactly happy with that fact. 36_12_21.gif

Right i am going to fight logic and have a stab at justifying this one however feeble it maybe. Suthep has claimed he is trying to overthrow the Government, which I am going to presume is not as legal as something like calling for elections:). Hence Suthep is now inciting illegal acts, and those funding it are supporting the criminal act of trying to overthrow the Government, hence the money should be traced and stopped, much the same way a number of persons in 2010 had their finances blocked.

The key point here is that Suthep has moved from a rally with a specific aim against a bill, a protest on that is obviously not illegal, to now claiming he is trying to overthrow the Government which i presume is illegal smile.png

Splendid job i have done there.

One flaw in your argument. Suthep has said he wants to "overthrow the Thaksin regime", so unless you're admitting that Thaksin is running the government, what Suthep is wanting wouldn't be illegal, and, if you are suggesting that Thaksin is running the government, then what Suthep is wanting wouldn't be illegal either.

See the Semantics Kid is out again. The Thaksin regime is generally used to describe a government loyal to Thaksin. The TRT Party was the first of the Thaksin Regimes for example with Thaksin at his head. This was followed by the PPP also part of a Thaksin Regime but this time he was barred from participating in politics so did not have a role in the government. He was obviously bankrolling the party.

So, you are saying that as a convicted criminal fugitive, with additional outstanding charges, he is rightly barred from participating in politics. However, it is acceptable for someone convicted of fraud to bankroll the party.

Do you really think Thaksin only bankrolls PTP? That his sister really is the PM/DM and makes the decisions? That she picks the cabinet ministers etc etc. And all the skype calls, meetings offshore between government members and a criminal who finances their party, leaked tapes of whitewash plots etc- are nothing to do

with participating in politics ?

The same idea that the Shinwatra's have - people will believe anything we tell them.

Wrong - read my post again in the context of whifch party I was talking about and why he was barred from politics.

Regardless of what I believe to be the case the dems have to prove beyond doubt what they believe. Why has it taken this long if it so easy to do?

Once again with the argument failing the emphasis is on for you to derail the thread. Not going to happen.

The red rally will be interesting to see if they publicly name the companies thought to be funding the Dems rally. The word on the street has several big ones circulating and the total amount and the percentage of it spent so far.

I hope all businesses support the reform movement at Democracy monument.

Some big names that won't be supporting it include Mr Tan, the Oishi man who tried to belittle the rally until his business links with Thaksin's son were exposed and of course Sorrayuth of Channel 3 fame who has property interests with Oak too.

Really! So you have any links to this information. My under understanding (which may be flawed ) is that Tan said a throw away comment that the rally wasn't as large as stated. As for Sorayuth I always thought he was anti thaksin hence the unfounded fraud charges brought against him. But as I said I could be wrong.

Business is well divided as you know with some that have changed sides, backed both, remained neutral. We could all name the groups that support the Dems. The funny thing is though that some of these Dem financial backers also support the two trillion plan, and have even been quite open about how the Thai economy will struggle without the debt financed infrastructure projects.

And there I was, thinking I was reading a report about red shirt demontrators and how they were gearing up to overthrow this Government! Trying to tar the Democratic demonstartions as those of the red shirts in 2010.

desparation has set in, like a wounded animal lashing out when there is no hope of survival.

I think you will find they support the infrastructure project as the Democrats do. BUT they regard that it should mainly be an on budget scheme for better transparency. Not an off budget massive loan over a ridiculous term.

Do you honestly believe PTP when they say that all the projects will be finished within 7 years?

Do you honestly agree that a 50 year term is acceptable?

Yeeeze many of the projects paid for by this 50 year loan will have been replaced/upgraded before it's paid off.

No some of the Dems financial backers support the plan including the loans, and actually disagree with the Democrat party or at least its stated policy. There is a lot of feeling that the rail links with China are very important and will cover the loans. Some of Thailand's excessive reserves could be channeled to reduce loans.

DSI to name financial supporters of Ratchadamnoen protests

PNPOL561117001000501_17112013_023441.jpg

BANGKOK, 17 November 2013 (NNT) - The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) says it will gather solid evidence before revealing the name list of businessmen who sponsor anti-government protests at Ratchadamnoen road. The protest leaders and sponsors might face legal actions if found violating security provisions of the criminal code.

DSI Director-General Tharit Phengdit said on Sunday it was too soon to disclose the name list of protest sponsors and it took time to investigate the sponsorship. The DSI were transcribing the protest leaders’ speeches and finding connections between the sponsors and the rallies, the official said.

The department earlier warned the protest leaders that their encouragement for a strike and tax resistance was against sections 116 and 117 of the criminal code. The sponsors are also subject to legal actions.

Are you sure Thailand STILL has excessive reserves.

How will the rail links with China cover the loans? China is building most of it so the payments will be going that way. The Chinese want/need a high quality freight link to Singapore and beyond.

I ask again though WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE OFF BUDGET?

Off topic I know, but I really can't see the demand for a high speed train from Korat to Nong Khai.

I wonder if Tarit will be investigating who is sponsoring the red rallies which the reds tell us will be bigger than the anti Govt ones.

Bigger rallies should cost more so there must be a lot of money spent on them.

No, I don't think Thaksin will be bankrolling them this time.

After all who will the red rallies benefit the most?

And who has their hands on the public purse?

Answer to both questions, the PT Govt.

So where will the funding for the 500b PP and the rest of the expenses like busses, food, sound systems, and all the rest come from?

You got it, the long suffering tax payer.

I am very much ashamed of farangs who look down at farmers...

Sent from my HTC One using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Totally correct.

Also with all rice farmers rich we're in the unique position to have to look up to them. Of course this government will soon switch it's attention to other produce farmers to help them reach to same enviable position.smile.png
