Hi all. My partner (Thai) and I (Aussie) and our Son travelled from BKK to Australia. My partner and our Son will be travelling back to Thailand soon (I will remain in Australia). When coming here, Thai immigration advised my partner to carry a copy of our Son's birth certificate when she returns to Thailand as our Son has my last name (not her last name). Anyone with any experience regarding this, and would a copy of the birth certificate and house book be ok? Or do they require the original of the birth certificate?

Not that it should make much difference but our Son has both Thai and Australian passports.

Thanks in advance.

I've been in the same circumstances. My wife travelled back to Thailand with our dual national son (different surnames) and had no problems entering Thailand on his Thai Passport, no other documentation was asked for or required.

I would cary a copy, but suspect nothing will be asked when entering.

Checks are being made in order to prevent child trafficking, that is why with different last names a check can be made. But mostly when departing, not heard of when arriving (sofar).

Similar to above but departing BKK to UK 2 year old daughter and Father only .......

I have an English friend who is leaving Thailand with his daughter. The Thai Mother is staying in Thailand.

The daughter has both British and Thai passports.

What, if any, documentation is required?

I remember in 2006 when I took my 9 month old daughter and her mother to Australia we were pulled from the immigration line and asked for something or other ?

A notation was placed in my daughters Aussie passport, but I cant remember what it was !!!

Thanks guys, I will give her a copy of the birth cert. and the English translation, my main concern was whether to have her carry the original birth certificate or if a copy would be ok.

Just another point, when we departed Bangkok, the lady at customs told my partner to carry the birth certificate when she returns to Thailand, she didn't advise if a copy or original would be required. Think I will give her the original just to be sure.
