A tribute to the street dogs

Another poem ......

Soi Dogs

Our lot is a sad one

Or so it would seem

But in actual fact

We’ve got the cream

No owner to lick

No commands or orders

No house to protect

Or patrolling the borders

We have our own social order

And this works just fine,

Peeing on things

Which means “That’s mine”!

It’s far too hot for conflict

Just give us some shade,

A small bowl of water

And we’ve got it made!

As for female company

That’s nothing new

The worst that can happen

Is the back of the queue

Oh look! There’s a group,

An orgy in the ditch

It’s times like this

I’m glad I’m not a bitch!

I can vividly remember

As a cocky little stud,

Jumping the line

Only to taste my own blood!

Territory is hard to get

We patrol our patch

Leaving scents

For noses to catch

And sometimes at night,

if we’re feeling quite daring,

we’ll sneak into another pack’s turf,

to do some intergroup pairing!

Hygiene can be a problem

We all hate the lice!

Then add the mozzies

It’s not what you’d call nice

So although we have no owners

We are completely free

Doing as we please

Let’s have a pee!

We get regular food

Although it’s only scraps

We just have to watch out

For the poison meat traps

We breed like rabbits

and it never ceases

Which leads to big groups

A whole lot of faeces!

Some people are kind

they can even be fun

But then there are others

Who aim for a hit and run

So please don’t feel sad

when you witness our strife.

We see it another way,

We have a life!

Be interested to hear other people's opinions on the street dog situation and any personal experiences worth sharing.

My dog is fourteen years old and I found her padding along the side of a busy road in search of mum and her seven siblings. She's have been no more than two weeks old so I picked her up and put her in my pocket and cycled home. She has a wonderful life and is one of the family and although she's missed out on a lot of the activities the street dogs get to do, she has a great life surrounded by those who love her.

Lets' hear some more dog stories guys.

That life can be short

We have no retort

So please, you, yes sinners

We dont want to end as Vietnamese dinners!

Why do some of them have balls as big as coconuts, what's the deal with that.

It's caused me many a sleepless night pondering the issue.

Why do some of them have balls as big as coconuts, what's the deal with that.

It's caused me many a sleepless night pondering the issue.

They need big balls to survive the streets, just like us humans. Because of their DNA their balls actually grow physically bigger. So, the bigger the balls, the meaner the dog.

Hope this will help you to sleep better at night.

With a few minor changes, it could be a poem about homeless people!

They are a pest and should be rounded up an killed off. They are a traffic hazard, a danger to kids and bark incessantly.

Street dog with mange

It doesn't seem strange,

With fleas and ticks

And nits to pick.

Broken and tired

From the missiles fired,

Cracked leg from a car,

Ears battered and torn,

Wish I'd not been born.

Fear of rabies,

A million diseases,

My barks are now

Just listless wheezes.

Not far to go to

The ditch where I live,

It's quiet and warm,

Safe from the storm.

Tomorrow I'll venture

From home once more,

Find a kind person

Some food, some rice,

They'll take me home

And that would be nice.

Ahh, here's a farang,

They're good for a touch,

I'll whimper and simper,

But not too much.

If I act nice and friendly,

and don't go for his crutch,

I could grab his wallet

And p!ss off really bloody quickly.

what next a tribute to sewer rats?

... a Bar (Attendant) Girl tribute would be interesting ... whistling.gif

I thought that was what Witawats contribution was ??

Western Union helps contribute enough to bar girls, they even put western union umbrellas on the beaches, what does that say.

When you’re walking the streets of Pattaya

And the Soi dogs snarl and bark at-a-ya

Just bear in mind

That some twerp thought it’d’ be kind

To feed it, as if that don’t matter-ya?

Of all the things that need to be directed at Soi Dogs poems is low on the list.

When you’re walking the streets of Pattaya

To feed it, as if that don’t matter-ya?

I walk every day and never have a problem. Maybe it's your snarling attitude? I feed them when I can.

by feeding the dogs you are being a major contributor to the dog problem - not just in your neighbourhood but in the country as a whole.

Oooooo...the soi dog haters are out today eh?

All I wanna say is that the missus & I currently have

4 rescued soi dogs at home & they're great dogs.

Excellent house guards too. All up...in the years

I've lived in LOS (more than most of you-less than

a few) I have had nothing but soi dogs...I don't

remember the exact number but it's been quite a

lot and they've all been good dogs...never a problem

to me...later with the missus or our friends. They

just need a chance that's all. That said...some of the

severely injured soi dogs should be humanely put down

but NEVER sold to the dog meat trade and anybody

who advocates this should be sold into human slavery.
