Many countries have banned things like this as they are afraid they will catch the young people.

Great!!! Most likely there will be no age restrictions on this product. I can see it now....Children too young either to drive a motorbike and consume alcohol, doing both at the same time. Thailand, the hub of utter irresponsibility. wai2.gifwai2.gifwai2.gif

Many countries have banned things like this as they are afraid they will catch the young people.

According to some the real danger is that children will be attracted not to alcohol but to (even more) ice cream.

Brazilian brewery Ambev has created a beer-flavored ice cream that has been stirring up some controversy. Advertisements show the ice cream, which bears the label of Skol beer, accompanied by the text “Shall we go to the bar to have an ice cream?” Critics are claiming that the ad is suggestive and encourages children to drink.
Although the ice cream has no alcohol content, customers must be at least 18 years old by law to purchase it, since the icy treat is distributed by a beer brand. We can only imagine if this stuff was being sold in America, the ad would no doubt be under fire for encouraging children to eat ice cream, too.

Those who have been around for a while might remember the crowning of Pornthip Nakhirunkanok as Miss Universe 1988. What I remember vividly was the restaurant at Central Chitlom where they were promoting a "Pornthip-flavoured ice cream". Hilariously funny and we ordered it just to find out that it was vanilla with a splash of strawberry sauce.

Probably no one have knowledge of ice cream making.

There is a 'cooking' proces involved and since alcohol vapourizes quickly at about 70 degrees C up, there will hardly be any alcohol left after the proces.

This said, the FDA in Thailand don't allow any percentage of alcohol in products such as these, cookies, soups or you name it. Absolute a NO.

I agree though that presenting a beer ice cream screams for attacks and protesters as there must be beer in so also alcohol. Bad move of Chang in my view. Might even be 'Malt' acohol free beer, but still.
