Hi all...

I am due to fly back to Thailand and will have the 6 months on passport and couple of weeks... As on the visa run for my tourist visa I will only have 4 months left..

Will I be allowed back in as I know some countries only allow a full six months

If you're in UK I wouldn't risk it and fast-track a new passport--can do up to 9 months before I believe. If you came over and later bounced the borders to keep the double tourist visa going, immigration may pick it up, null it and just give you 15 days.

I suggest you get a new passport while in the UK you will get the remaining time on your old passport added to your new one (up to 9 months).

You will not have a problem entering Thailand but will not be able to enter Laos or Cambodia with less than 6 months on passport.

Your visa in old passport will still be valid. Just show both passports on entry.

Please also bear in mind that, should you leave your passport renewal until you are back in Thailand, you will need to submit your application to Hong Kong and it could take 4 weeks for your new passport to be delivered from the UK (based on my experiences earlier this year).

In any event, I would strongly advise you to at least get your new passport photos taken while you are still in the UK since it is well nigh impossible in practice to obtain photos here which comply with HMPO's stringent requirements particularly as regards acceptable background colours.

You can get a 48 page passport the same day for 137 pounds in UK verses doing it from here that costs 174.36 pounds.

You're in the UK but want to make life difficult for yourself by not renewing your passport. Why? Why do so many people want to make life difficult for themselves?

Where am I saying I want to make it more difficult cant you read I was asking about the situation before I return.. Yr very rude assuming something that is not there.. If I wanted to make my life harder is puld not of bothered asking here first ..

Thank you all for the previous replies.. I am going to renew passport as I can do a week return which I am happy with and return Thailand mid December ..
