There is the medical insults; ..have you considered seeing a therapist about that?

Please do not reply and say you do not understand, just get a medical opinion

He does seem to suffer from some form of mental retardation. Or is that an insult to those who suffer from that fate?

My favorite insult today was, " donkeys talking <deleted>."

Neversure has demonstated TWO of the poster's points admirably. Yet again.

You are fortunate that he hasn't threatened to place you on his 'ignore' list. Yet again.

That would have demonstrated THREE of the poster's points. Very admirably.

NeverSure is - in my view - either devilishly skilled at some sort of twisted version of satirical sarcasm OR just the average Joe who failed to recognise that the purpose of the OP was to highlight posters behaviour in situations where they have been proven wrong or risk ending up in an argument where they are wrong.

In light of this, NeverSure's contributions to this topic creates the same type of sensation of collective but unspoken embarrassment similar to the one experienced when it becomes apparent that someone has farted at the dinner table during a family reunion.

But as I said, I could be wrong.

Your dinner table behavior is off topic........................bah.gif ........................laugh.png

trans, do you refer to Forethat, NeverSure or Radar501 ?

All three if farts are their thing at the table..w00t.gif ...........laugh.png

There used to be a guy on here who had no problem saying that the reason you disagree with me is that you are too stupid to understand what I am saying and then end every contentious post with Kow-Jai-Mai?

I dont think Ted will be giving you any more trouble. They put him away for a very long time.

Whether you agree with the OP or not with his summations ... it's far to interesting to have the dust covering it when we are rehashing the Farang, Thai Driving, To Tip or not to Tip and the like crowding the first page of the General Forum.

1. Phase one. The simplest way of refusing to admit being wrong. Run away after realising you posted something that was completely wrong but tried to make it look like you had a clue, and leave the others to discuss whatever it was. Dont post in that topic again. At least you're not digging the whole any deeper and hopefully it'll all be forgotten in a weeks time.

2. Phase two. Accuse other posters of being “trolls”. This generally means that the poster subject to your accusations caused some sort of revelation. “That CANT be true, you MUST be a troll!”

3. Phase three. Ask completely irrelevant questions about the opposing posters personal life. "How many children do you have?”, "are you a Danish lawyer?", usually accompanied by accusing the opposing poster for dodging these completely irrelevant questions and disqualify his future posts by claiming he refused to answer; therefore he must have something to hide or is not qualified to have an opinion.

4. Phase four. Time for hidden invectives and minor insults. These insults tend to be subjective or indirect in their kind; “Have you taken your medicine yet?” Generally, the insults are seldom accompanied by any arguments that actually contributes to the topic.

5. Phase five. Make remarks about a posters spelling or English language skills (which in all fairness was never relevant).

6. Phase six. Direct insults and name-calling. “Bigot”, "Idiot", “Pedophile” are examples of this. Other examples are claims that the opponent suffers from various mental conditions, like "Narcissism".

7. Phase seven. Announce to have put a poster on your Ignore-list. You have now realised your complete and utter lack of knowledge; your incorrect gibberish and embarrassing attempts to defend yourself is on public display and in a last attempt to preserve whatever credibility you think is left (actually, by now there is NONE), you turn to the ultimate refuse-to-admit-being-wrong-trick and post something like "OK, you are now on my Ignore-list" to make it look like you don’t read your opponents posts anymore. All in an attempt to make everything go away without having to admit being wrong, only to minutes later continue to post and meet the ignored posters arguments directly or indirectly, confirming that you are in fact reading every single post made by the "ignored" poster.

8. Phase eight. Log in using your secret second, third or fourth backup account in order to “like” your own posts to make it look like there are others who share your view.

9. Phase nine. Moan and whine in every post about being "under attack" whenever someone challenges your arguments.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I feel so enlightened that you have felt us worthy to share your perspective.

Is it their reluctance to be wrong, or others insistance on being right ?

Phase four..?

And phase nine, those sad Thai visa members who must be incredibly bored and decide to spend hours trying to analyze the posting habits and character faults by nitpicking at other Thai visa members rather than being able to create interesting and informative topics themselves.

I put it all down to them either having serious financial, or emotional or sexual problems, or perhaps all three. Is there a psychologist in the house?

Hey there BJ. You know, the way you see it might be different from the reality.

You mention that the OP might have spent an exorbitant amount of time 'analyze(ing) the posting habits and character faults ... of Thai visa members'.

Maybe he's just good at identifying posting patterns.

I've got a really good memory for who said what in which post ... I don't even think about it ... just happens, plus I'm not bad at patterns either.

In the state I completed my Uni Degree, I topped the State (top 5%) in Quantitative Analysis ... but, that comes at a sacrifice. I can't learn language for nuts ... and I've tried ... facepalm.gif

Everyone is good at something ... I'm sure you have specialised talent, maybe more then one.

Oh ... BTW, not many quants need analysing in my living world and I'd swap that gift for even an average level of a foreign language ability.

We are who we are ...

This topic is about how many posters behave instead of simply admitting when they are wrong. It is not an attempt to analyse individual posters and their behaviour.

If you dont find this interesting or informative there's nothing stopping you from completely ignoring the contents of this topic. There's no rule that you need to have an opinion about everything, and you dont need to post in every thread.

And I write that in the kindest possible way.

Has the OP ever been wrong and admitted it..........noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. rolleyes.gif
I am probably one of the few posters who doesn't have any problems with admitting to be wrong, I even do it in this thread. It is also a case of being academically aware of what constitutes an argument, something which hampers users every now and again. I can pretty much tell by the way someone builds an argument in the first couple of lines if the post will provide some actual fact or just plain gibberish including a couple of insults and claims that the opposing poster suffers from various less favourable mental disorders (phase 5, i think).

The biggest difference between well behaved posters and posters who continuously needs to resort to invective and other humiliating actions as described in phases 1-8, is that they don't seem to get involved in discussions without being able to provide some proof to support their view OR to get involved only for the sake of it without being able to realise they are in above their head.

So everyone is in above their head if they debate with you in a way you yourself don't like to debate.

I can ask that without treading on your toes because by the way your posting right now we are well beneath your glorious feet.
