Suthep vows to end everything before December 5

BANGKOK: -- Anti-Thaksin regime leader Suthep Thuagsuban vowed to put an end to the ongoing protests before December 5 when the nation celebrates the birthday anniversary of His Majesty the King.

He assured supporters at the rally at Democracy Monument last night that the protest would end with the victory of the people and the fall of the Thaksin regime before December 5. He did not elaborate but said that after the Thaksin regime falls, a people’s committee would be appointed to form the people’s government to run the country temporarily.

Suthep also said that he strongly believed that after the no-confidence debate vote ends, the prime minister will dissolve the House of Representatives with claim to return the power back to the people to elect the new government.

He said that this was not a good solution to the country, attributing the emergence of the new round or rampant vote-buying by the Thaksin regime and its return to power again.

He said this was not what all protesters wanted as they intended now to eliminate the Thaksin regime and its network completely out of the country.

Suthep also said the extension of security law to cover the entire capital and three other adjacent provinces last night was illegal because she has already lost legitimacy in performing the job after her ruling party announced the rejection of the Constitutional Court’s ruling.

He then asked why did the protesters have to listen to her illegitimate order when in reality her government did ignore the Constitution and did not abide by the law.

He also defended the seizure of the complexes of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Bureau of Budget as a legitimate movement shielded by the Constitution because what they did was to prevent illegitimate government from doing further wrongdoings.

Translation: a group of "his" people would form the govt.

And any bets on how many years, centuries and even millennia "temporarily" would turn out to mean?

I see Suthep as one old hungry man trying out everything he could to get to power and he don't just know he never can. All he can do is ruin the country and people.

Your translation skills are a bit lacking. You can expect a "unity government" next that will not include most of the divisive people currently involved in Thai politics. (At least not those charged by various groups ... I do not expect to see Suthep, or Abhisit, or Jatuporn, or Nuttawaut ...

I would expect to see some of the old and actually respected Dems, and maybe even people like Thida.

If things don't proceed as he has planned, this will likely be the next announcement: There will be a reprieve in demonstrations on December 5th, and they will continue soon thereafter.

Which would indicate that there was one particular law at least that he respected feared!

Reminds me of the song by the Who "Won't get fooled again" which ends with the lyrics:

Meet the new Boss, same as the old boss!

Unfortunately I don't rate the chances of the title of that song coming to pass here as all the great, in the short term at least sad.png

So he wants to throw away the constitution and appoint his own government - and he says his actions are justified by the current constitution????

Mandatory Mental Health Examination please.

The current constitution is based on a coup so he might be right.

I'm noticing a remarkable decline in anti-government stuff on my Facebook timeline.. (I have loads of friends who are very vocal in opposing PTP/Yingluck/Thaksin.)

Seems Suthep is overstepping a bit. Of course, that might not mean much; there are plenty crazies with him to keep causing heaches for Thailand for quite some time to come.

The workday is just ending ... it will pick up again in the evening hours. I woke up at 9am this morning to 117 new notices. I have only had 10 during the day (when people were on breaks)
