BANGKOK, Nov 27 – The lawyer of former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban will lodge an appeal with the Criminal Court today to object to its arrest warrant, issued at the police’s request.

The court yesterday issued an arrest warrant for Mr Suthep on charges of leading demonstrators to seize the Finance Ministry and evict government workers and officials out of the buildings, gathering more than 10 people for unlawful purposes, and creating unrest in the country.

Mr Suthep said his lawyer, Jessada Anujaree, will submit evidence to the court to reject the arrest warrant and that he would not surrender to police.

Thaworn Senneam, who will act as one of Mr Suthep’s witnesses in the appeal, said the court will be assured that Mr Suthep will not escape and the charges against him were slight.

Piya Uthayo, spokesman of the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO), said imposition of the Internal Security Act (ISA) has been extended from November 25 to December 31 and warned that violators could be subject to one year in jail or maximum fine at Bt10,000.

He said 500 provincial police officers have been dispatched to the capital to maintain public order, and called on protesters to demonstrate peacefully without violating the ISA or creating violence. (MCOT online news)

Like Hitler? You probably mean you differ of opinion with Suthep. He does sound somewhat agitated perhaps, but compared with Jatuporn and Nattawut's shoutcasts in 2010 definitively on an acceptable level.

Suthep is a bit late to appeal to demonstrators to do so peacefully , when he has fired them up to be agressive and the are now occupying several
ministries . Suthep warrants being arrested and jailed for a year . He has been shouting his message like Hitler in WWII .

Apparently they have peacefully occupied and also exited some government buildings. No bottles of gasoline, no RPGs, no bullets, just words, marches and heated speeches. Is that peaceful enough for you.

You've been on TVF for a long time, you've seen all this before. The damage done this time is miniscule compared to what the Red Shirts wreaked on Bangkok over three years ago. His message to his followersis no more strident than that given by Jatuporn, Nattawut and colleagues. They are all passionate in their beliefs. As foreigners we are merely interested observers and commenters.

The main difference being that the red shirts wanted an election but this lot want no more elections

But 3 bombs thrown at police so far....

2 of them ping pong bombs, but it's quiet because the police have been told to keep guarding peacefully

I think you forget that in 2010 the red shirts did not occupy any government building nor did the occupy the airports.

The red-shirts also did not do an awfull lot of other things, but they did have a few militants hidden in their ranks, a grenade lobbing brigade and cleaned up with a wee bit of arson.

Now back on topic, comparing Suthep with Hitler is imaginative, but regarding 'shouting' Jatuporn/Nattawut are much better at that.

They didn't occupy buildings. Just the roads blocking the buildings. And after it was over, they burned the buildings down. What peaceful chaps!

Mr Suthep said his lawyer, Jessada Anujaree, will submit evidence to the court to reject the arrest warrant and that he would not surrender to police.

I wasn't aware you could reject an arrest warrant.

It was issued 24 hours ago and he is still not in custody. Can't the police find him!!

Hey if Thaksin the criminal can rule Thailand, why can't Suthep not be arrested even with a warrant issued?

Suthep's lawyers should be asking the court to revoke Jutaporn's bail as he has clearly and publicly broken the conditions of that bail.

They should also be preparing to do the same to Nattawat and the other red leaders who have been hiding behind parliamentary privilege.

I see that a troop of police approached the finance ministry and a story went round that they had come to arrest Suthep.

The protesters went out and surrounded the cops and prevented them moving, no violence no bad words or pushing and shoving.

If the cops had wanted to move they would have to had to use force.

After a time they agreed to go away.

How many cops does it take to arrest Suthep?

A hell of a lot I would think and they would need to use a lot of force.
