Where does thaivisa think this nation will head for in the long run?

Featured Replies

Is this another Philippines, Indonesia or (worst case scenario) Myanmar in the making? Or would the Thai people slowly get their act together and encourage competition with its neighbours? Let's hope the Shinawatra clan don't reveal themselves to be like the Marcos family, [..snip]

Thailand will become the real centre of the world.

The UN assembly will come to Bangkok.

The EU parliament will come to Bangkok.

Etc etc.

Or in other words Thailand will be the hub of the world.biggrin.png

Bleak. More than anything, "Thai" means "lucky" rather than "free". Historically more adept ethnic groups have had it much worse in recent times (Burmese, Kihn, etc.) than Thais. Up until now, I would say this nation has gotten away with a lot of things scot-free from luck rather than from sheer competence.

Imagine the snake Ouroborous. But instead of it biting its arse, imagine it sticking its head up it. The symbolism remains the same however

In my opinion and sorry to be so pessimistic, but at anytime within the next 10 years, perhaps sooner, I can envisage political turmoil here in Thailand. A free for all in a struggle to grab power over the country.

I truly fear what may happen in the not so long term future Only need to listen to some of the threats and ramblings on of some of these group leaders to understand what are their intentions.

At the moment their main emphasis is getting the police and the army on their side and then it`s just a case of biding their time and making an attempt to overthrow whatever Government party is in at the time.

Thailand is going backwards and if the present trends continue, the future of Thailand as any sort of democracy is not looking bright.

I am with you brother

Thailand is going to have a relatively tough time of it for the next 10 to 15 years economically.

They don't bring anything to the table that can't be done cheaper just over the border.
