I plan to apply for this visa within Thailand next week. Basically I am in Bangkok now and I will be transferring from a non-B visa after finishing a job last week. I have 2 kids born in Thailand (half Thai) with my name on the birth certificate and the required amount of money n the bank + a Thai spouse (not married and mother of the aforementioned kids) earning a good living. There are bits and pieces in the forum related to this sort of visa, but has anyone currently on this type of visa in Thailand that can advise on any problems I may encounter?

If I understand correctly you are married to a Thai but she is not your children's mother.

If this is the case you have to your extension based upon marriage. You do not have change visas you can get an extension with your B visa entry. Or if you actually have an extension of stay from immigration you can just change the reason for your extension to marriage.

Not married. My spouse is the mother of our 2 kids, both mine.

If I understand advise from Mario2008 I have to go to the Amphur to get them to recognize me as legal father to both my kids, or get married legally.

Your OP was not clear about your marital status.

Whether you can do it at the Amphoe or not will depend upon their ages. Most Amphoe's will not do unless children are 7 or over.
