Beginner bike: D-tracker, Ninja, CBR, Keeway?

Which one is your pick for a beginner in Bangkok? I am probably buying a black D-tracker for the price, looks and size in traffic. The Ninja looks very cool, while the CBR looks a bit more bland. The Keeway I'm sort of mixed on, it looks like a mix of a supermoto, streetfighter and sportsbike, but not quite any of them. A bit pedestrian look imo.

I have the TXM200 Keeway. It has given me no problems and the seat is very comfortable. Only paid 62K new.

Cool, I saw one the other day. It looks better imo in real life than in pictures. How is the riding position though and how would you compare it in terms of what kind of bike it is (supermoto, sport, streetfighter etc)?

Supermoto style, monoshock rear end, led tail light, oil cooler, upside-down forks. Handles well. The riding position is great. I don't like leaning over forward like on the CBR. The CRF has a very skinny seat that looks like it wouldn't be comfortable for very long and is over twice the price of the TXM200. Incredibly easy valve adjustment. I do my own service. I've had nearly 40 different motorcycles in my day and at least half of those were Kawasakis. You can't beat the price on the Keeways for the quality of the bike that you get. Lot's of Chinese bike haters on the forum but the people that actually own the Keeways haven't complained about the bikes.

If it were my choice from those listed I would get a second hand CBR. Nice one can be got for 70k and it's easy to thread through traffic as is the Ninja which is more expensive.

Get some miles in and then trade up to what you really want.

Right, I just really don't like the look and feel of a CBR. It has a bit of 'utility bike' feel, sort of like the Honda Wave of the small sportsbikes. Just my opinion of course. I talked to a D-tracker owner recently though and asked him exactly about the width. He said he didn't have any problems at all with it, so that's one opinion also.

i think d tracker has more utility feeling than cbr250 too and it is anemic. At least consider crf250 m if you like that style.

Also had to squeeze it through especially Bangkok traffic i am sure.

If you will be buying a first hand, get the ninja 300 if you have money, if you dont have money, get the cbr250 second hand for 75 k.

cbr250 has good low torque which will help you a lot in Bangkok traffic as well and fuel bills will cost you less.

If you don't like the CBR250 don't buy one, they're not everybody's cup of tea. For a new bike the Keeway is good value and owners here seem to like them and report no problems. If you're handy with the spanners the Keeway is a simple bike to maintain. If you're not there are a fair few SYM/Keeway dealers that can take care of it and my own experience with the Tiwanon Nonthaburi dealer has been positive.

You want a beginner bike, Honda MSX 125.

That's a toy bike for people 20 cm shorter than I am. No way I can fit on it.

This relates to a point I made on another thread about there being no "best" bike. Each purchase depends on the rider's height, weight, experience, needs, location, desires. Extrapolating from this, perhaps you could share your height and weight and previous experience so posters can give you their best advice.

All you asked for was a beginner's bike for Bangkok. On the info provided so far, an MSX 125 is a perfect beginner's bike for Bangkok.

Make your mind up. Your post seems to contradict each other. "Beginner's bike" vs "toy bike". Do you want a bike for beginners or a 160 km/h + sports bike?

      Cow Causes Motorcycle Crash Leading to Fatality in Nakhon Ratchasima

      The incident occurred on the evening of October 4, when a cow unexpectedly ran in front of a motorcycle, leading to a fatal crash in Nakhon Ratchasima. The incident took place on the road between Ban Suai and Rang Khai Yai, near a gas station in Phimai District. According to reports, the victim, identified as 35-year-old Ms. Chinnicha (surname withheld), an employee of the Rang Khai Yai Subdistrict Municipality, was riding her Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle when the cow cut across her path. This caused her to lose control and fall onto the road. Moments later, she was struck by a black Chevrolet sedan, driven by 38-year-old Mr. Kampon (surname withheld), who was traveling in the opposite direction. The impact left Ms. Chinnicha severely injured. Rescue teams rushed her to Phimai Hospital, where medical staff made every effort to save her, but she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter. At her family home in Nakhon Ratchasima, Ms. Chinnicha’s father, Mr. Samphao (surname withheld), expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his daughter. He recounted that she usually drove her car to work, about 7-8 kilometres from home, but for unknown reasons, she had taken her motorcycle that day. Tragically, she was only 5 kilometres from home when the accident occurred. Mr. Samphao shared his anguish, stating, “I feel devastated and cannot come to terms with this. The incident happened so quickly.” He also mentioned that his daughter was married and had an 8-year-old daughter. So I would download and install this app,attempt to login to your account,you may be asked for your code or to open Authenticator. This might then display your code or create a new one. Good luck

      For comparison many vegetables imported to the uk from Thailand are now cheaper in the uk! All though my wife feels its necessary to up her luggage allowance to 40 kgs and tow all this home! 😰🐘😁🐒☻🙈🐻

Upon realising the gravity of the situation, the officer helped transport the wounded DJ to the hospital. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras captured the incident. DJ Wanida’s sister, Ms. Khwanrudee Thongyod, expressed shock and sadness, stating that her sister had always treated Ms. Pornpimon as a maternal figure. The two women had been close, and Ms. Pornpimon had been a strong supporter of Wanida’s online presence, often referred to as a “fan mother” for her role in encouraging the DJ’s success on TikTok. Despite their previous close relationship, the debt dispute proved too much, ultimately leading to the tragic shooting. Ms. Pornpimon later surrendered herself to local authorities, admitting to the crime and claiming she acted out of anger over the unpaid loan. She now faces charges of premeditated murder and illegal possession of a firearm.       You seem to think that the Thai tax issues affect only wealthy individuals and ignore the vulnerable, average and aged expat pensioner retiree who has no experience of managing or filing tax returns. My interest lies in trying to help the average and below average member, many of whom are deeply scared and confused by all things foreign tax related. My past tax, finance and Big 4 work experience, combined with the fact I have lived in Thailand full time for over 20 years, may be of help to some of that group. Those things are why I mostly ignore the never ending debates about CRS and foreign DTA's. I have no interest in the tax affairs of people like you and others who talk in terms of buying 1,000 Apple and being concerned at the tax implications when you sell, or the large dividend payments given to you by your parents. If you can afford to buy 1,000 Apple you can also afford to put your hand in your pocket and spend 20k at Ernst and Young and get the best Thai tax advice that money can buy. So exactly why you even bother to log onto this thread, especially given that you live full time over 8,500 kms away. is extraordinary, to say the least! If there are members of AN who risk millions in tax as a result of CRS, they must be some of the cheapest rich people on the planet, in order to have such wealth yet seek tax advice from a social networking forum! I am personally aware of at least two AN members who talked in terms of self harm and required support and intervention, such was their fear of what might happen to their paltry income in retirement here as a result of the tax changes. Meanwhile, you talk about the millions at risk overseas by wealthy expat, dear Lord, we're not even on the same planet, let alone the same subject. I will be very happy if you wish to add me to your ignore list, that way my contributions won't interfere with your enjoyment.
