National Human Rights Commission calls on all sides to stop violence

BANGKOK: -- The National Human Rights Commission Monday issued a statement to urge all sides in the political conflicts to stop using violence.

The commission said in its statement that violence ensued at several places around Bangkok, including at the Ramkhamhaeng University and at seveal government offices.

The commission also urged police to investigate and bring the ones who fired at students to justice.

The statement said the protesters must also respect the media's rights and must not intimidate the media.

It said both sides must avoid confrontation and police must use leniency when dealing with protesters.

iPhone found by the side of the suspected bones

burned-bus-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The forensic police inspecting the burnt out bus and the remains of bones inside the bus toilet now believed the bones belonged to human after a mobile phone was found beside the bones.

The police believed the bones belonged to human because the bones found were similar to the heel foot bones of a human.

Moreover they discovered a burnt-out iPhone phone and a belt buckle inside the charred remain of the bus toilet.

They suspected the victim might be in the toilet when the bus was attacked by angry mobs yesterday.

However they said they needed to take the bones back for detailed laboratory test before confirming it.

Meanwhile the police investigators inspecting the clash scene at Ramkhamhaeng university also said the Ramkhamhaeng university student killed in the shooting was from those coming to join the protest and not from the police guns.

The student was shot by a 11 mm pistol, while two other red-shirt supporters also were not killed by the police guns.

Investigators said some of them might carry guns into the rally.

POLITICAL CHAOS
Police use tear gas to disperse protesters

The Nation

30221147-01_big.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Police fired tear gas at protesters for a second day on Monday as they tried to force their way into Government House and the Metropolitan police bureau.

The confrontation took place in the morning near the barriers on Chamai Maruchet bridge on Phitsanulok Road, which leads to the Government House.

Some of the protesters were those from the Rajadamnoen rally site.

Police fired the tear gas and smoke bombs at the protesters. They were seen dispersing and covering their faces. After pouring water on themselves, many of them returned to the front line.

Many of the protesters wore raincoats and plastic bags over their heads, to protect against the sting of tear gas.

The Democrat-affiliated Blue Sky channel broadcast the attacks live, showing the police repeatedly fired the tear gas and smoke bombs at the protesters. Reports also indicated that rubber bullets had been used.

The use of tear gas also was also reported near First Infantry Division.

Medical troops were seen for the first time today helping to treat people suffering from the effects of tear gas.
