If you were "thinking of the staff member for the Earth Science Division at Berkeley Lab" I have no idea why that "would really be news. Not necessarily good news, but news none-the-less."

I didn't realise that those doing in-situ borehole fibre-optic seismic monitoring were so newsworthy but, as always, I am willing to learn from others who are better informed than I am so maybe you could enlighten me?
