A request well heeded I should add.

There are many celebrations taking part all over the country but if you are at a loss as to where to go your Provincial Hall and District Office will be sure to have celebrations honoring HM the King on the day

My wife and I will be on flight back to Blighty. In the grand scheme of recent events, a rather good day to return - i.e. the least chance of any problems getting to the airport and taking off.

Happy birthday to the King.

Just before last Father's Day my daughter asked me to take her to the stationary shop and made a big fuss over making me sitting outside while she went in.

Come Father's Day she proudly presented me with some liquid paper and a box of paper clips..

"Ah well it's the thought that counts" i mused but I really needed those items when I came to prepare to extend my visa last year and I'd be buggered if I could find them!

Sorry for the off-topic. Happy Birthday to HMK on Thursday and to dad's everywhere.

It is actually a nice feel good day in Thailand. (Expect traffic jams in Bangkok as they clog up the freeways at night to get a good view of some very impressive fireworks).

If you haven't already, track down some of the great jazz and blues composed by HMK, it makes the perfect background music for celebrating this wonderful day.

Sometimes I see people question; from where do some attributes that are found within the Thai Kingdom, which aren't found in non-thai nations, spring forth.

Well, I firmly believe we should look towards the ruler for inspiration on our enquires.

Obviously, in Thailand, The ruler is His Majesty The King.

So; the next time your mind is filled with these enquires,.. just gaze upon the nearest mural of His Majesty and let your mind be at rest.

Long live the King !

His Majesty has been a shining example of Monarchy, under his vision and lifes work, people from all over the world wish to live, work and visit Thailand every year. His people are happy and they love him.

His has taken the duties of being King very seriously and deserves our upmost admiration and respect.

Long live the King !

Long live the King of Thailand

Ever since i arrived in Thailand I have heard nothing but good things and respect for the King. The King of Thailand is a Shining example of true leadership, care and humility towards his people. He is and always will be respected by me.

I alwayd liked the pictures where it shows the King mingling with normal folk and it shows his understanding towards his people.

May God bless the King of Thailand.

Just a practical thought also for this period.

This Thursday is a day off ... the Stock Market is closed ... as will many other Institutions as it's a prescribed Public Holiday.

Plus, I suspect there will be more then a few Thais will extend that and have the Friday off work to make it a Long-Weekend.

So, if you aren't joining in with the celebrations ... you will find a few things closed due to the Public Holiday.

Well, it's ticked over to His Majesty's Birthday.

Celebrations will be in full swing today culminating with Festivities tonight.

I mentioned earlier that I went to a simple local Function ... and it was great.

Thai Family on the way to the Celebrations

Located on a pier outside of Bangkok, great atmosphere.

Probably half the Crowd in Yellow/Gold shirts, the Kings colour.

Free Candles given out.

Good tip to take some paper so you can make a cone from so that the wax doesn't drip on your hand and the flame going out.

The solemn bit last maybe 10 or 15 mins from the couple I've been to, then it's back to usual fun at these events.

Someone always has some fireworks!

One other one I went to was at a Floating Market ... couple of tourists, mostly Thai ... great experience.

So do check out what's happening in your neighbourhood ... and get a few photos with the Thai Partner as it's a good image for a future Visa application.

Just share in the outpouring of love and affection that many Thais hold for the King.
