BANGKOK, 3 December 2013: Tourism Authority of Thailand says advance booking for this month, due to political unrest in the capital are down although still 2.2% better than the same period last year.

TAT deputy governor for marketing communications, Sugree Sithivanich, said on Monday that a measure of advance bookings in December indicated only a 2.2% growth from early monitoring that suggested advance booking were growing by 14%.

He gave the briefing to TV stations yesterday. However the Ministry of Tourism and Sports estimated that so far 350,000 trips to Thailand have been lost since the protests escalated costing the country around Bt16 billion in revenue.
