Hello, I am a 45 year old American. I hold a work permit and visa which will both finish on july 30 however my passport does have something written in Thai followed by the date November 30 I am told on or before July 30 I apply for the extention and then will be good on both the work permit and visa until November 30 This is for the one year visa. Does that sound correct? Also I would like to take a 3 week trip out of Thailand in June I belive I need a re-entry permit cost 1,000 Baht. Will this cause trouble with my visa extention or should I still be fine since I will be back before the last day of my current visa good until July 30. Thank You for you time.

Do you have a permitted to stay stamp until July 30 or a multi entry visa valid until July 30? Or a single entry visa that has now be used? Have no idea what November 30 would mean.

To keep your current permitted to stay alive you would need a re entry permit.

Are you planning on extending for a year? If so you have to apply before the permitted to stay expires.

Thank you yes I have applied for a year visa, so I do not leave every 3 months. My passport said I am permitted to stay until july 30. Then some thai word followed by nov. 30 2006 that would be a full year since I started the process. So as long as I get the re entry permit and come back before the 30 of july I should be fine? Then I think they will give me a visa to stay until nov. 30. Also when i leave the country do I need to bring along the form that shows I checked in every 3 months. Thanks again

No.

It should all be in the computer, but no-one checks at the airport about 90 day reporting.

The 90 day clock starts again when you come back from your trip overseas.

The 90 day report should be stapled into your passport to prevent its loss but should be with you as you never know when they might have the urge to see it.

Get a re entry permit and when you return you enter that number as your visa - the stay will be the same as your currently have (until 30 July). You will have to go to immigration at/before that time and check on your extension of stay.
