PM Yingluck says her family wants peace, not power

BANGKOK, 9 December 2013 (NNT) – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has said the “Shinawatra” family only wants peace, not power. She has also ruled out the possibility of her brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, returning to Thai politics.

Miss Yingluck, during her interview with a group of foreign journalists, confirmed that former PM Thaksin Shinawatra would not make a political comeback, while denying rumors that the Shinawatra family was hungry for power, saying all she ever wanted was for the country to be democratic and at peace.

As for the demonstrators’ plan to breach the Government House, PM Yingluck reaffirmed that the officers would do their best to protect the House in a peaceful manner, and urged the protesters not to break any law as they would definitely face the music.

Since the current political conflict has already hurt this country and the Thai people more than enough, the protests should not go on any longer, added the Ms Yingluck.

perhaps the worse thing that could happen is open conflict to the point of UN involvement. that is what you definitely don't want. as has happened else where when the UN steps in they impose an alien constitution that bears no resemblances to the aspirations/values/cultures of either combatant. effectively making conflict of this sort useless in achieving any local aims. once that alien UN imposed constitution is in place you cant ever get rid of it.

you think corruption is endemic now? , just wait till the UN gets involved then you will really know what true unbridled corruption really isclap2.gifbah.gifw00t.gifsad.png

So - if they don't want power and the root of the divide is him and his family. Then surely, the solution is ….. that's it, they want peace, not power, so they can walk away from it now, causing peace. No more Pro-Thaksin and anti-Thaksin arguments among Thais or on here.

For once, I salute you lady YL, now action speaks louder than words. Unless you're lying of course.

Think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit....... Clearly she is not a very clever woman if she thinks

these baldfaced lies are going to fly very far. Or she thinks Thai people are stupid.....

Perhaps she thinks they are on average stupider than her. Wealth and privilege, even if acquired effortlessly through the family, as in her case, can give people the illusion that they are also smart.

If you search in Thai for "Ee Poo Ngoh", roughly translated as "Stupid Bitch Poo", you can find multiple references to Thai people's perception of her intellectual shortcomings.

How sweet!

Did she mention anything about looking after little children and saving the animals too?

No. Pity though. She could make merit by helping dogs and cats that were blinded and disabled by her tear gas and compensating the owners of pets that died.
