Seized government offices reportedly damaged

BANGKOK, 10 December 2013 (NNT) —Police say government offices previously seized by rally goers have sustained heavy damage.

Police have begun to inspect the damage left by the demonstrators at Government Complex. Reports of the inspection show that the building’s second floor office has been rummaged through and government property looted and damaged.

CPUs and hard-disks have gone missing, whereas CCTV cameras have been destroyed - making it impossible to know who committed the crimes, said police.

This is the first day that police have examined the seized government offices since protests began on November 28.

They might if they were dispersed with the same lethal force. The same dynamic that led to the riots when dispersing the red protests (which started after the failed lethal first dispersal months earlier) are not much different than has happened in many cities -- especially in the US. When have an angry crowd that does not feel they have legitimate recourse - it is pretty easy to explode into a full blown riot. They would probably just pick different targets.

There really is no difference in a yellow thug looking to topple democratic government than a red thug.

In Europe we have our yearly "End of Winter Sales".
Everything cheap, cheap. thumbsup.gif

Here in Thailand we have the yearly "Demonstration Give Take Away Sales".

It pretty obvious the damage was caused by cabinet members and their staff to destroy and hide evidence of their corruption before the protestors arrived

Arson, AK-47s and knock-off M79 grenade launchers are a few differences that come to mind.

1992 20 MAY: Quote from wikipedia "Black May 1992"

Finally, at 9:30 pm, a television broadcast of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Suchinda, and Chamlong was shown, in which the King demanded that the two men put an end to their confrontation and work together through parliamentary procedures. During the broadcast, the King addressed the two generals:

"The Nation belongs to everyone, not one or two specific people. The problems exist because we don't talk to each other and resolve them together. The problems arise from 'bloodthirstiness'. People can lose their minds when they resort to violence. Eventually, they don't know why they fight each other and what the problems they need to resolve are. They merely know that they must overcome each other and they must be the only winner. This no way leads to victory, but only danger. There will only be losers, only the losers. Those who confront each other will all be the losers. And the loser of the losers will be the Nation. ... For what purpose are you telling yourself that you're the winner when you're standing upon the ruins and debris?".

Two of those new water coolers were damaged too and will cost 150,000 baht to replace.

Yeah like you can store a lot of data on a CPU? LOL (Probably melting the gold plating off the terminals as we speak).

It is a possibility. There would seem to be a good chance that there has been creative accounting in more than one 'project'. No doubt there will be some records somewhere and given the arrogance of the PT gang perhaps they didn't bother to keep the 'other' records off site and well hidden. Last one out destroy the records may well be in this mess.

Perhaps linked, I know a senior finance official who put his pen down and walked out several months back, after being 'told' to sign multiple documents which

he believed to be totally inappropriate.

Besides his concerns about the morality of the subject of the documents he had very serious concerns that he could well end up in jail.

CPUs and hard disks, eh ? They mean those from early -00's, government issue ? It won't be any internet shop keepers who pilfered the antiques. At least they didn't take the motherboards or display cards.

Indeed is a possibility, but so remote...

Do you think they had the chance to steal and put in safe cpus and hard disks, because of that? No printed documents?

Oh well, everything can happen in Thailand, so if happened like that not much of a surprise but a lol like I wrote before.

Now come on, they were only looking for stuff to flog (sell) when they get home.........................coffee1.gif

Luther Stickell: [to Krieger] Thinking Machine laptops? I'm talking about the 686 prototypes, with the artificial intelligence RISC chip. Franz Krieger: Twenty-four hours. Luther Stickell: Ha-ha. Oh, and uh, I get to keep the equipment when we're done. Ethan Hunt: Well, Luther, I guess you're all out of excuses.

All in the name of democracy, justice and freedom...just like 2008! (says one side)

All in the name of red shirt propaganda! (says the other side)

Close the thread, please!

A computer case is still today often incorrectly referred to as a CPU, so they probably mean desktop cases went missing rather than just some processors/chips.

Well, at least they didn't burn down Central yet ...

Wrong is wrong. You can't compare apples with oranges. They need to be prosecuted.

Inevitable when a mob takes control, seems the damage was a lot less than it could have been, if only they had been more organised and just sent in monitors in to confiscate all the shredders.

Where's Edward Snowden on all this? Julian Assange? Fox Moulder? Anyone... F*** me! The truth's out there! facepalm.gif

The offices at Chaengwattana have little to do with any political party in office. These offices are for the ingrained, permanent government, the one continues, PTP, Democrat, Army, or whoever. It is quite doubtful any cabinet members even visit the place, let alone store anything there.

As far as I know yellow shirts as a civillian political phenomenon did not exist in 1992.

Exactly, along with Thaksin, Jataporn and all the red "protestors" in 2010, and those from 2006, and 2008 etc etc ... not selective enforcement when it suits

Selective law enforcement, selective opportunities, selective everything, is a sad reality in Thailand.

Well, at least they didn't burn down Central yet ...

Probably the democratic elected government was not so cowardly to shoot at them.

Right, that is the point everyone sided is missing. Uniformity. Who has to deal with law, get to deal with it.

Suthep, Thaksin, Jatuporn, and everyone else.

Kick them out from public offices, and send them to jail. The sooner, the better. For Thailand, for Thais, and for who legally live and work in Thailand.

These are the "Good people" that suthep talks about. Right????? He should be held peronnaly responsible for that and for the MURDER of 90 Thais back in 2010. You know the yellow shirts and this new bunch (same people) have done more damage to Thailand then the Red shirts did.

oh I see it is ok to use snipers to kill 90 people and wound hundreds???????? Thats the difference.
