I'm afraid I'd only heard of a couple of their "top 10" (the Pope was one, I should add!).

The rest would seem to be "the best" only in their own rather limited world.

I must say this Papa Frank has surprised me. As Popes go, he's the cat's meow. But he is a Pope.So I guess if you're into that sort of thing, it doesn't get better. I also like his messages about inequality.

Good. So maybe you'll learn something. For me I feel a personal connection to THE ADVOCATE. It was the first gay rights publication I ever saw as a youth and frankly their "ads" provided me some early days porn that at least beat the Sears catalog. A friend of mine was a reporter there in the 1980s but he did die early in the predictable way of that era. It pleases me that the publication even still exists and much more now.

Just imagine where we would be without gay rights ACTIVISTS and gay rights activist publications like THE ADVOCATE!

Seems this 'progressive' Pope has reached his limit towards tolerating our kind,

he is not happy at all about Malta passing a bill, allowing gay couples to adopt children.

Advocate is a great magazine. But to name this man 'Person of the year' was maybe not so wise.

Maybe next year The Advocate should name Putin 'person of the year', Putin freed the Pussy Riot members, prior to Sochi Olimpics, maybe Advocate feels Putin is a great man, fighting for equality of Russian gay people.

Heh, I'm reading this Huffpo article, and there is pearl from this 'progressive' Pope:

"..Despite his July comments, the pope has a long history of being against gay rights. He has come out strongly opposed to same-sex marriage and called it "a destructive attack" on God's plan."

And Advocate, infuential gay magazine, feels this man deserved to be named Person if the year!

Yeah I see your point. He provides a change of tone and emphasis, not a change of dogma. Like I said, as good as it gets if you're Catholic.

Obama receiving Nobel Peace Prize makes absolutely sense, but only in a bizzaro world.

Nobel Committee ruined the prestige of the Peace Prize. Next person who the committee chooses, should decline the Peace Prize. This prize has lost all meaning after O received the Prize.

If he was a man of honour, he should return his prize to Nobel Committee.

Well I thought it was OK when he got it, it was an encouragement of sorts. But now it's clear he'll never deserve it. Perhaps if he can manage a significant solution to the Israel-Palestine thingie but that seems really remote. I don't think he's a bad man or anything but yes the Peace Prize is absurd.
