Chinese toy vendor Big Tree builds SE Asian hub in Thailand
THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- CHINA'S BIG Tree Group will open a toy sales and distribution centre in Thailand in order to expand its sales presence in the Southeast Asian market.

It has leased 4,000 square metres from Bumrung Muang Plaza, the operator of Bangkok's Bo Bae Bamrungmuang Plaza, for the showroom, which it plans to be a hub for the region. Big Tree positions itself as a "one-stop shop" for the sourcing and distribution of toys and related products.

In its announcement, it said Asia currently represents the third-largest regional market for global toy sales, trailing only North America and the European Union. According to many industry experts, Asia will become the largest market for traditional toys and games in this decade. As a result, Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia represent a strong growth opportunity for Big Tree Group in the coming years, making the establishment of a physical presence in the region key to building future regional sales relationships. "In addition to building our strong presence in regions such as the European Union and North America, we are targeting future growth from emerging economies," said Wei Lin, chairman and chief executive officer of Big Tree Group.

"With expectations for strong economic growth in Southeast Asia, especially in Thailand, in the coming years, we expect the toy industry here to grow at a very healthy pace for the foreseeable future as more consumers increase their discretionary spending. We see this as the right time for us to expand our operations into Thailand and establish this centre as a hub for our overall growth in Southeast Asia," the executive said.

Headquartered in Shantou, Big Tree is the authorised agent for over 8,000 toy manufacturers in China offering in excess of 300,000 varieties of toy products including remote-control toys, digital toys, sports toys, play sets, educational toys, dolls, and infants' toys.

How many hub announcement is that this week?

Chinese toys are notorious for being dangerous. Every one has to get past the Consumer Products Safety Admin. in the US before it's allowed in. There has been found lead paint, parts that can come off and choke a child, electrical toys that can shock, toys that can seriously cut a child...

So let's dump them in Thailand with a little tea money.

"CHINA'S BIG Tree Group will open a toy sales and distribution centre in Thailand in order to expand its sales presence in the Southeast Asian market."

And right next door a print shop opened making stickers and labels "Made in Thailand" so they can put them on the toys and sell them to Chinese tourists.clap2.gifcheesy.gifclap2.gif
