Thaksin Regime to return after election : Democrat

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai Party has intended to inherit Thaksin Regime as it has proposed caretake Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra as the No 1 party-list MP candidate, deputy Democrat Party spokesman Jurit Laksanawisit said Monday.

No one can guarantee that Yingluck and her fellow party members would not vote in favour of the blanket amnesty bill if they take power After the election.

She will for sure the law to whitewash her brother, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra. "The cycle of Thai politic is going to back to "Thaksin orders, Yingluck does," and make a big problem for Thais," Jurit said. Democrat Party spokesman Chavanond Intharakomalsut said the Pheu Thai Party might believe that Shinawatra family is still the strong opportunity of its party, and worried that Yingluck could not take a stand in society.

So it tried to pave the way for Yingluck though the election. "During the election times, the Democrat Party would not campaign against Thaksin regime because a lot of people step over it. My party would hold a political reform forum for creating the future of Thailand that everybody want to see," he said.

Suthep will need a box of tissues urgently, if not a complete change of underwear after hearing this news. Not exactly a calming measure in these tense times.Good old Thaksin, never a dull moment.

It's pretty obvious if the election goes ahead without the democrats, then PTP will win assuming enough voters turn out and reprecent at least 75% of the voting public. So not so cut and dried!

PTP will be even worse if that is possible once returned to power. That will be the time things turn ugly!

The real question is will the military stand by and watch. They seem to be the last resort, as the politicians are incapable of resolving anything. Maybe that is what the people should be taking notice of. That they are the cannon fodder to these elitists who call themselves politicians? Red or Yellow.

The obvious observation regarding postulating on a return of the Thaksin regime is - we didn't know that it had ever left ! There is no doubt that PTP will continue to forge ahead with whatever flavour-of-the-month scheme that Thaksin choses to make his actual return a physical one. And sadly - Suthep's recent spontaneous, maverick decision to physically block the election has brought new life into that possibility, where it did not before exist. For by doing that, Suthep takes much of the air out of the movement, that should have been more firmly rooted in the widespread mistrust of Thaksin's pervasive influence. That was the glue that was acting so magnetically. So that is immensely sad. Because the movement might have succeeded peacefully - even if an election - and PTP's presumable landslide - had taken place. It still could happen. But Suthep's gambit unquestionably will spark violence, the Red Shirt involvement, and square one all over again. Abhisit has been wise this week to more strongly distance the Democratic party from Suthep's increasingly extemporaneous musings. But unfortunately, for now at least, Suthep's free associative thinking has given PTP the upper hand.

I'm sure PTP and the majority of Thai's would like to sincerely thank Suthep for his efforts in ensuring a balanced political future for Thailand.

Sadly enough after listening to the neo-facist Sutheps rants over the last couple of weeks, PTP seems like a not so bad alternative anymore!!w00t.gif

I know, they are rotten to the core and corrupt beyond believe, but the lesser of the two evils!

Come on, you see 2010 (or not), how the Government do its work and the PTP. Dont change anything solves no problems, dont think so negative. After all, alone the protests are a step forward, its a big chance for some real reforms from the bottom. Hope die at last...thumbsup.gif

Don't even give them (PTP) a chance at the election - they will buy their way in as they've done it before!

The Democrat people paid my wife's family last time and they voted for Yingluk.

So the PTP paid more....

I don't believe hey got anything from the reds as they live in kanchanaburi

Suthep's crusade is to rid Thai politics of the Shinawatra influence.

Yingluck dissolves parliament and protests continue.

Now it is announced Yingluck is No.1 on PTP list but also we have Somchai Wongsawat husband of Yaowappa Wongsawat,Thaksin's sister and Surapong Tovichaichakul, Thaksin's cousin in law.

So it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming days. Looks like business as usual.

1. Thaksin - runs government by proxy and Skype.

2. Yingluck - P.M. under Thaksin

3. Somchai Wongsawat

4. Surapong Tovichaichakul.

5. Yaowappa Wongsawat

Happy Families. I think the Shinawats are giving Suthep the big middle finger. What happens next is anyone's guess.

I'm sure the majority of Thai's will sincerely thank Thasin for his efforts in ensuring a balanced future for Thailand too!

doesn't it get boring to write "fascist" in every posting, without ever give a reason?

Just repeat it often enough in the hope something will keep sticking....

the term could have been coined just for Suthepgiggle.gif

fas·cist

A reactionary or dictatorial personfacepalm.gif

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/fascist

you know a person who wants an unelected “ People's Council “ to run the country and who has a track record of not wanting to give up power once he's got itph34r.png

Fascism is this: one faction trying to seize power without regard for the majority or the bulk of the population.

Fascism is not only applicable to ruthless crimes and pogroms (although historically they fall in that category) but to the one faction (in this case Suthep and company) trying to overrule democratic institutions, the Constitution or the the will of elected officials. Do you believe that Suthep will retire from politics, as he claimed? Why is an old politico who was caught red handed when Minister of Agriculture and resigned not to be indicted, why is he bent of seizing power, allegedly, for the "people". What people? His people? What is his chief motivation? Not altruistic for sure.

Vote buying goes on from both sides. The money is spent by Democrats and PTPs on people who would vote anyway for those parties of their allegiance. Spare us the same litany about Paymaster, the puppet Master in Dubai.

Democrats, at this point in time of Thai history are the worst of all evils.

no it is not.......consult at least wikipedia....

fascism has nothing to do with how you gain the power.....you can be complete democratic elected fascist or a declared anti fascist can seize power against the majority.

There was only one Fascism- corretctly using the term- It was a system of government developed to restore the symbolic power of the 'fasci' in ancient Rome.

Now YOU study the gov't system by which that was intended and show us how Suthep's people's council is different (aside from Suthep's not romanticizing the grandeur that was Rome).

I just love guys who say "the democrats haven't been elected in 20 years....and then turn around and blame them for everything. Thaksin and his various parties have ruled for 15 years, didn't arrest Suthep for his crime, did nothing but increase corruption and nepotism. You can't have it both ways, Your party has dragged this country in to the toilet, and if they are re-elected financial ruin will follow. You will probably blame the Democrats for the rice scheme, somehow.
