Owen Wilson accused of supporting whistle-blowing protester: Thailand

He was probably confronted by a fan who happened to be one of the anti-government demonstrators. No doubt the whistle was given to him as a gift, a gesture, Anyone trying to make anything out of this is really stretching things to the limit...!!

That's being polite about it.

Fairly recently we read how a government worker was given a whistle and forced to blow it in support of Suthep . these are the bully tactics that are being practiced and they will only get worse as their confidence grows.

Getting any bites ? whistling.gif

Why did this story get such a response ? It's not as if Chuck Norris kicked in the doors of Government House and thrashed everyone in there. biggrin.png

Chuck wouldn't just kick the doors in Mike, he'd kick the building down and still not break a sweat. The hardest man this side of Uranus laugh.png

Though, if Chuck wanted to do that, he could. With a twitch of his nose the whole place would come crashing down!

That's how Chuck Norris would do it!

Just one look at the building from the Norris would result in a shake then an implosion.

When it comes to "stretching things" in Thailand there appears to be no limit!!

Merry Christmas to all "Posties"

I've read the plot in more detail, this sounds like an extremely irresponsible movie considering the current political situation.

So now that you're an expert on the movie, you actually believe it will make a difference in the current political situation. How, pray tell?

So not only is it irresponsible ...it's extremely irresponsible. 5555

Like most unaware Westerners, he probably thinks Suthep and his rabble are supporting a democratic movement. Little does he realise that actually they want to do away with votes. Typical Thailand; while many people in the rest of the developing world are continuing to struggle for the freedom to vote for a political leadership that they choose, in Thailand it seems (at the moment and in Bangkok) they other way round.

More or less agree.

I think most international observers cringe at what Suthep is doing but in this case its probably just another gullible farang fresh off the boat brainwashed by some yellow shirt supporters.

Ain't this the guy who tried to commit suicide a few years ago........that should tell us something

Well then ... what does it tell us? Do you truly believe that a suicide attempt several years ago somehow let to Wilson wearing a whistle around his neck?

he's lucky the local reds didnt try to beat him up but then they only do that to women as they dont hit back. How pathetic is it when you are accused of something because you are wearing a whistle, these people are idiots.

Since the government is suppose to represent the majority of Thai,... isn't your UTMOST racist comment not removed and yourself, banned from further commenting?

This forum itself is pathetic, taking into account with what coherent oppression "truth" is being withhold!

That said, only "negative" truth about Thailand, though. If you have plenty of slime left and suck up - you are more than welcome!

ONE OF THE MOST PATHETIC KIND OF A WEBSITES I'd ever come across!

I wonder how many tourists have bought the flag lanyards and other products just because they have the Thai flag printed on them without knowledge of the political connotations. I suspect more than a few.

I have head sweat and wrist bands in the Thai Flag design. Does that make me anti Government? What it does mean is I get bloody hot when exercising or playing sport and would prefer the sweat not to drip into my eyes. How very cynical of me.........................and a load of bo**ocks this thread is. Paranoia springs to mind.

I must first sort of apologize I am never this forthcoming in any posts anywhere but this deserves it and I just couldn’t hold back.

Your the idiot.

How can you be in support of ANYONE who wants to take out a duly elected govt. (and by a sweeping majority I might add, not just a close vote but one that was determined to be a LANDSLIDE VICTORY)

And replace with people whom are selected and determined to be “good people” and yes that is a direct quote from Suthep who is even now conducting interviews to determine who these good people to lead the country are, that HE and HIS COMMITTEE shall select.

Perhaps I should refer you the definition of democratic and democracy because you are obviously confused, ignorant or illiterate. In any case it is OK to be ignorant but it is not OK to remain that way.

See Here for Democratic: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/democratic

And Here For Democracy: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/democracy

And For Ignorant ig·no·rant: adjective \ˈig-n(ə-)rənt\

: lacking knowledge or information

: resulting from or showing a lack of knowledge

See Here: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ignorant

How in the world is that possibly even anywhere close to democratic? I’m sure that they were IGNORANT when they chose the name “PDRC-Peoples Democratic Reform Committee” but again they don’t have to remain that way. They could rename the themselves “PSRC-Peoples Socialist Reform Committee” or "PCRC-Peoples Communist Reform Committee" that would take care of thier obvious display of ignorance.

And as for Suthep himself, he’s just an idiot. How did he think the US Ambassador would or could possibly react when asked. Was he hoping the US Ambassador would say “Oh yes, we support democracy and elected governments every where in the world , except in Sutheps case in Thailand. Certainly we believe whole heartedly he should install the government of his choice and the people of Thailand should be grateful to him for doing so” The Ambassador was not interfering or any other way interfering or supporting either party. She was simply stating the US Policy that Democratically elected governments are ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS PREFRERED.

I'm sure any of the millions of anti government supporters would be dead chuffed to know that you termed them as 'rabble'. Sounds so much classier

than Professor Plops calling them 'garbage'.

Whats to say he wasn't simply given the whistle by the cute kid. Or didn't just pick up the kid and put the whistle around his neck. I saw a little kid running along blowing a whistle in Silom Complex and saw an older fareng woman take the whistle off the kid gave him a hug and then placed the whistle back on the kid.Who knows? Actually, none of us!

"In their new overseas home, an American family soon finds themselves caught in the middle of a coup, and they frantically look for a safe escape in an environment where foreigners are being immediately executed."

Strange that the actor is allegedly supporting a group who are attempting to lay the conditions for a coup. He has either been conned or being extremely opportunistic.

your the one who is conned if you think that!

BTW it's you're... Not that I wish to be the "spelling police" but I think if you have a go at someone at least get YOUR own house in order!

I've got to say it: There are some real idiots on tv.com. I mean those posters who read little to nothing about a news article and then are all of a sudden experts on the subject, and/or see sinister plots and intrigues that others cannot.

The article says: "According to various Thai publication, Wilson has asked his friends in Thailand to inform the press that the Thai fan who asked him for a photo gave him the whistle as he strapped on his neck, thinking it was a souvenir, not a symbol of Thailand’s government hatred."

But, of course, I know full well that Wilson is lying and is in cahoots with the CIA to overthrow the Thai government so the USA can force all the rice farmers to grow GMO rice. No, really ... it's true.

In many civilized countries, you could be considered pathetic if you did nothing but walk around the street all day for months blowing a whistle, while supporting an anarchist that has nothing better to do but paralyze traffic, occupy and damage state property, insult the country's poor, try to escape from a corruption and murder trial and who wants to establish a communist-like "people's council" and wants to get rid of elections.

Now, tell me ...how pathetic is THAT?

Pathetic is defined as a person who expresses an opinion outrageously on something that is of no concern to him/her and which he/she has no influence whatsoever.......thumbsup.gif

"Wilson himself was in Thailand in November for the shoot of his action-thriller movie The Coup."

Now that is ironic. Whole thing seems weird as Hollyweird.

I never liked the aspect of American culture that features the opinions of actors concerning economics, politics and other important issues. If an economist has an opinion about economics, I read it carefully.

When actors talk about issues my ears go deaf. Its like saying a mime is qualified to program a Cray.

Are you saying that no celebrity is smart enough to talk about anything but their projects? Rather shallow minded of you I think.
